2017 2500 trailer brake issue

I've got a 2017 2500 Duramax with the integrated trailer brake. When hooked to a trailer I can get output with the slider, but when I press the brake pedal nothing happens. Is there something I can do before taking it to the dealer? Thanks.

The +/- buttons are used to adjust the gain (braking level setting)

Dic should show the gain setting as you are adjusting it.

One thing I have notice about hooking up my 16 Silverado.  If I have the truck running, the truck will not recognize there is a trailer attached and the DIC will display check trailer brake.  If I shut the truck down then plug everything in the DIC says trailer connected.

Thanks for the help but I can change the gain. I can go from nothing to 10.0. The problem is the output, the bars underneath the gain. If I move the manual slider the output bars move and show that there is output intensity to the brakes. If I push the foot brake in, nothing happens. Doesn't matter what number the gain setting is on. Tried with two different trailers.

I've seen some guys say their truck doesn't recognize a trailer if running when hooked up, mine is recognizing a trailer if plugged in while running.

So the brake controller isn't getting the signal that the brake is being applied, or it's faulty.

Seems to be the case, researching it looks like there was a sensor by the master cylinder that went out fairly often on earlier models but not 17's.

It's new and under warranty, but was hoping someone else had ran into this and found it was as simple as replacing a fuse before I drove it to dealer. I've checked fuses that deal with brake lights and trailer brake but didn't find any issues.

There’s a gray plastic cap positioning the 7 wires behind the trailer plug.  That snaps on the wire pin holders.  I found two pins pulled from the plug. One effected a turn signal the other the brakes.  Pushed them back in and repositioned the gray retainer fingers.

does anyone know if the gm system is time controlled or inertia controlled

The power output to the trailer brakes is based on the amount of brake pressure being applied by the vehicle’s brake
system, and on the type of trailer brakes detected. This available power output to the trailer brakes can be adjusted to a wide range of
trailering situations.

The ITBC system is integrated with the vehicle’s brake, antilock brake, and StabiliTrak systems. In trailering conditions that cause the vehicle’s
antilock brake or StabiliTrak systems to activate, power sent to the trailer's brakes will be automatically adjusted to minimize trailer wheel lock-up.

This does not imply that the trailer has StabiliTrak.

If the vehicle’s brake, antilock brake, or StabiliTrak systems are not functioning properly, the ITBC system may not be fully functional or may not function at all. Make sure all of these systems are fully operational to ensure full functionality of the ITBC system.

The ITBC system is powered through the vehicle's electrical system. Turning the ignition off will also turn off the ITBC system. The ITBC system is fully functional only when the ignition is in ON/RUN.
