Radio won't stay turned off

I have tried to search but could not find this topic.   I turn my radio completely off and have a blank screen and then park and turn off the engine.  When I restart my truck the next day the radio is turned on.  Why is this?  Is there a setting I am missing or do I have a defect that needs repair?

There was a thread on here awhile ago about how these radios really don’t turn off. Someone said if your listing to a cd even if you turn off the radio the cd keeps playing even though you don’t hear it. ie. if you shut it off on song #2 at 1:20 then turn it back on one minute later the song will be at 2:20. Also when the truck is shut off & key out of the ignition you can hit the power button on the radio and it will “turn on” and play which to me seem as if it’s never truly off? I’m guessing since all kinds of stuff is ran though the same module for the screen in the dash including the radio the default setting is everything turns on with the ignition. I’ll test mine Monday when I drive it and see if it’s the same.

Ok thanks.

I know if you just tap the on/off  radio button it puts it in mute mode.  If you press and hold the on/off switch it goes off and screen is blank.  Guess I will get the dealer to look at it next time.

Tried mine today shut it off turned truck off, after restarting it the screen was on the home page and radio was on but muted. Mine is the 8” screen like yours the wt comes with the smaller screen radio.

I just bought a 2018 Denali and tried this to see what would happen. I pressed and held the power button and got the screen pictured. Only the outside temp and time was displayed on the screen. I turned the truck off, then after work turned it on and the same screen was on.

I put the truck in reverse and the backup cam still works, but no radio sounds at all.

Try this. Turn the radio off. Then set the memory for whatever key fob you're using. Turn off the truck and then start it back up. See if that fixes your symptoms. I'm thinking it's related to the memory feature as it saves your radio stations and such. It could be turning the radio on as that's how it's programmed in the memory.
