This site will help you decode it: https://gsi.ext.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/

Wow that is a HUGE site. I am actually looking to see what (if any) Transmission (Engine) coolers are installed on my truck.....

It is a 2017 Silverado Double Cab 1500 Z-71 4x4 6 speed with 3.08 gears.

Thanks

Just look in front of the radiator. Should have the condenser for A/C, then any other coolers will be right in front of that - can't miss 'em. If there's 2 good sized ones, then you have transmission and engine oil coolers. A skinny, rectangular one is power steering. If any doubt, just follow the lines underneath from each cooler.

May be easier to see if you pop off that plastic shield on top around the hood latch.

I'm guessing your 3.08 most did not come with a transmission cooler. That truck was not built for towing with those gears.

But If you can find your RPO codes, that might help you. Mine is a 3.42 with trailering package. I have the following codes:

KNP - Transmission oil cooler

KC4 - Engine oil cooling system

If you see either of those codes, they might be a clue.

Ahh yeah, forgot the RPO codes will tell you that too. Should be a sticker in the glove box with all the codes on them, unless they did away with that on the new ones ...

RPO codes have previously been on a sticker in the glove box, but for 2018 models they switched to a QR code on the door jamb you have to scan with your phone.

OP has a 2017, so he should be able to find the sticker.

Send an email to '[email protected]' with your VIN number and ask for a build sheet. They are very responsive and usually get back within 24 hours.

Shine a flash light right through the grille - should be able to see everything .... unless of course GM changed that too ...

I found the RPO codes in the glove box and looking through the grill all I see is BUGS and what to me one radiator..... But looking under the hood I see lines coming from it going to the transmission I think.... Ha ha ha
