Yeah it’s definitely louder at cold start and goes away within 30 seconds, but this is all the time when I’m not driving fast.

Yup, it would happen cold or warm on my trucks.  A good full synthetic oil and good quality oil filter sometimes help.

That’s what I’ve got... Mobil 1 high mileage 5w30 with extended perf Mobil 1 filter.

you are in good shape then.  You can try different oils though some noticed less knock with different brands.

Okay cool good!

My knock does go away after I rev up to 1500rpm

Just run it till it explodes. Once it blows up, buy a $100 junk yard motor, and pay someone $250 to install it.

Well hopefully it won’t blow up!

So I checked it out with the stethoscope and it definitely is coming from the front end of the block, not the power steering or flywheel. Hopefully it’s just because of this high mileage Mobil 1 and the pistons are slapping when idling, because like I said it doesn’t make the knock once i hit 1,500rpm.

Might be worth checking your oil pressure with a gauge. A Seafoam flush on the top end might help if you have a carbon issue.

Yeah I’ve done the oil sea foam once and the top end Flush twice... a few months ago and a month ago

then you have yourself a very clean engine!  Just drive it and be happy

Could.it be a loose timing chain slapping the timing cover?  Not sure exactly how to check this without pulling the timing cover though.

Maybe, it you had a valve cover off, you could turn the crank bolt slowly by hand back and forth about 10 degrees and see if there is any lag in the valve train moving when you change direction????

A tiny bit of lag is probably to be expected, but if it's significant, you may need a new chain.
