Fog Lights Were Useless

2012 Sierra SLT

We live in the mountains in Colorado.

We went into town yesterday evening to meet some friends for dinner.

A spring snow storm worsened as time passed.

On the way home I had to use 4 wheel drive once we got off the county paved road.

The problem was the snow was those big wet flakes and it was coming down hard.

My low beams were not much help, like a wall of white.

Turned off the low beams and turned on the fog lights.

Useless.

I couldn't drive with the fogs.

No down the road coverage and not bright.

Are they out of adjustment?

Went back to low beams.

I found Morimoto XB LED fog lights.

Anyone have these.

Worth the money?

:)

You would want to park on a flat level road at night, and adjust the OEM fog lights by hand. If they are covered in snow, out of adjustment , or the bulbs are burnt out, they won't work very well at all. After market fog lights would be equally susceptible to the same issues.

Old bulbs could be dull.  Mine are nice and bright, just changed them.  Then fellas are putting in plug and play LED bulbs over at the TY Forum.

What would be nice is if the LED fog lights had the ability to change from white to yellow.  White is great for driving lights, but yellow is best in fog or snow.  White lights just make the "wall of white" like mentioned above no matter where they are located and the brighter they are the worse it gets.

I have the Morimoto’s on my 15.5 and they are great in everything but heavy wet snow. Since they don’t put out a lot of heat, they get covered very easily.

Thanks

I thought about this.

I agree 100%.

Change those stock white bulbs to LED yellow bulbs.

Driving lights are WHITE.

Fog lights are YELLOW.
