6.5 diesel swap

Hey 

I’ve got a 78 1/2 t Sierra grande with a dead 350 in it so I got to thinking why not put a 6.5 turbo diesel in it instead of another 350? Now as far as I know the 92 and 93 years had a mechanical fuel pump and minimal electronics to deal with if I go this route. Any advice would be appreciated!

you will also need a transmission for the 6.5

Yeah I was planning on a manual out of the same donor truck and transfer case also. I think axle drop is on the opposite side tho so not sure what axle I am gonna use.

Try and find a driver side drop dana 60.  Rare but youll need it with all the weight of that 6.5.  Try and find a mechanical one.  Even a 6.2 with a turbo charger is basically the same thing.

I’ve got the SM 465 and NP 205 which I think would work behind the 6.5? I could use my existing front Dana 44. As long as I can use at least my 205. Advance adapters has one for gm nv4500 to gm 205 for 650$ roughly.just need to make sure I can use nv4500 behind 6.5 if I go that route. Does anyone know how well the 465 mounts to the 6.5?
