Throttle response

I just bought a 2018  Sierra 1500 and the throttle response is slow. This is my first truck and I love it but I would like to fix that. Anyone have a suggestion?

Yup, there is a DIY thread on here where you stick a piece of wood like paint stick or something similar behind the throttle bracket which takes up the bending and flexing out. It helps a bit.

I have a tuner that lets me increase throttle response to 20%. You can also try a Sprint Booster, that also gives you better response. All of these are just feel at the pedal, no HP gains of course.

Shim the brake pedal bracket where it meets the firewall.

Made a significant difference for me. Takes the flex out of the entire pedal assembly.

I installed a product that works well for me on my 2017 Silverado "Sprint Booster" P/N # SPRCH011 Sprint Booster V3.

~ $289.99 simple install and you set it to your driving needs.

Ive heard of spring booster, but I have superchip and you can adjust it 20% more throttle response. it doesnt increase it too noticeably but it does a little.

I have sprint booster on my BMW X5 Diesel and its crazy how sensitive the throttle can be at race mode. Mine is the older one where its off, green or red light.

I would recommend it

If it's an 8-speed, just press the accelerator a bit harder and give it 500-600 miles. Somewhere around 550 miles, mine woke up and you no longer had to get into the throttle bigly to keep it from upshifting below 2k rpm.

I’ll try this out

I had a '15 6.2 and it was not so bad. Well when I bought my '17 6.2 brand new, as I was breaking it in it felt sluggish. Then after break in I felt it was slower and just slow to respond. I followed the advice above about this paint stick mod under the pedal assembly. Well when I got under there and pushed on my pedal I couldn't believe how much flex I had. I loosened the entire assembly and jammed the wood under there and tightened it all down. No flex and VERY responsive, big difference. You can then take it a step further with one of the electronic pedal boosters. I was happy with the improvement and didnt want any jerking or jumping in such a big truck. I have that booster on my BMW and actually shut it off for normal driving as it is too responsive with almost no delay.

Do you have a link for that DIY thread?
