This morning I got pulled over for speeding. As the officer approached my truck, I requested permission to exit my vehicle and speak to him in private. 

The officer said, “Sure, come on out and talk to me. Tell me what's going on, why were you speeding?” 

I said, “You see that woman sitting next to me? That's my wife, and the stern miserable looking woman in the back, that's my mother-in-law.”

The officer said, “Why does that justify you speeding?” 

I said, “My mother-in-law has been living with us for 3 months now. This morning my wife and her had a terrible fight and my mother-in-law insisted I take her home. I'm trying to get her there before they have a chance to make up and she wants to return home with us.”

The officer nodded at me and said, “Get back in your truck sir, and I will give you a police escort with red lights and sirens. We'll get her home as quickly as possible!"

I'm old enough to remember and to have used an 8 inch reel to reel, see four track and build a crystal radio and listen to European stations with dad on his shortwave on Sundays. Polka music from Germany in Deutsch. Listed to the Indy 500 on that radio sitting under the ash tree around a wash tub of 7 ounce bottles making ice-cream.
