2018 Tahoe dead battery?

Wife has a 2018 Tahoe RST, we love it.  It has about 5,000 miles and I took it in yesterday morning for an oil change, tire rotation and whatever other inspection they do as part of their package(two free services).

Drove it to work and back and everything was great. Last night my 5 year old and I ran a few errands, came home and parked it in the garage. It was thunder-storming, so after I got him out I grabbed a towel and wiped down the water on the two door panels. Nothing major, but still enough I wanted to wipe it down.

My wife came out this morning and the car was dead, barely had enough power to remote lock/unlock.  I sent her to work in my truck and hooked up my batter charger, it was reading at under 20%. After 2 hours it was at 75%, started and drove  fine, took the kids to school, then came back home, charged it for another hour and it was around 90% and I left for a doc appointment then work. Started again fine at the doctors and the gauge in the car was reading normal, just a shade past 14 during normal driving and right on during idle.

So here is my question, what the heck killed the battery?  I checked inside and my son didn't leave a light on(and I can't see one LED interior light draining the battery overnight) and I couldnt find anything else that appeared to be drawing power.  My only thought, is since I was somewhat in a rush, that I turned off the vehicle, but left the ACC power on?   It is my wife's daily and my silverado doesnt have the push button so maybe I flubbed something up?  Or does anyone know of a known issue with the charging system or battery on these trucks?  or could the tech have messed up something yesterday during the service?

have you changed any halogen lights to LED? I did in my 2016 Impala and turns out the cheap LED i used kept one of the CBUS (I think thats what its called) some module awake which kept bleeding battery life slowly but enough to a low battery to the point of not being able to turn over the engine. It took about 3-4 days for the technician to figure it out.

Since your truck still has that new car smell, take it to the dealer and tell them to give you a new battery or run an electrical diagnostic, that way you can start out fresh.  Then if it happens again it’s probably not the battery or an electrical issue.

This is a wide spread problem. Ive had three of these trucks from 2015-2018 and all left me stranded with dead batteries. The dealer attempts to reset the PCM every time but if the vehicle sits for 2-3 days it wont start. I really believe this is why you see so me of these body styles used for sale with less than 50k miles.
