Jpeterson2 Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 The past couple of days I noticed a hesitation at take off in my 2000 Tahoe. Truck runs perfect at idle and even once I pick up speed but when taking off power drops suddenly then power is restored. Truck has been a perfect daily driver up until now. Don't have any check engine light to lead me to what the problem is. I drove the wife to work this morning and it only hesitated once while getting on the highway. If you could please help me that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance have a bless day
Doug_Scott Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 From a dead stop floor the gas pedal and hold it to the floor until it shifts into second gear. If the truck had that hesitation, as well as some poor running before the shift, check for fueling issues. If you haven't changed your fuel filter in a long time or can't remember when or if you ever changed it, I would look there. If you have access to a fuel pressure gauge, check the fuel pressure at idle, as well as when you snap the throttle open. Pressure should not drop.
Jpeterson2 Posted June 29, 2018 Author Posted June 29, 2018 So I did what you said yesterday afternoon and floored it until 2nd gear and everything was fine. As a matter of fact yesterday I had no problems at all though this morning after dropping the wife off at work I was almost home and the same issue again. Left to go pick the wife up and was having the same problem worse than before. It was happening more often and it seemed to be more intense. I dropped by my buddy's shop had him put a pressure test on it and everything was fine was holding around 50psi. I got on the highway heading home i was digging in it a little running 80mph at around 3000 rpms and it was jumping up until I left off the gas. After getting off the highway it was running normal. Just hope I can get to the bottom of this soon since this is our only mode of transportation. Hope someone can help. For the first time I wishing my check engine light was on maybe it would be a little easier figuring out what the problem is.
txab Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Go ahead and check for stored codes even though the CEL isn't on steady
Jpeterson2 Posted June 30, 2018 Author Posted June 30, 2018 Gonna do that first thing in the morning!!! That's a good idea
Jpeterson2 Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 So my truck has still been giving me problems though it is very rare Though every time it starts to tumble or stall I get on the highway and push through a couple of gears and then its fine. I think it may be the fuel filter but I'm not 100% sure that is the problem but the fact remains that I still do have a problem with my truck
