Brake line replacement issue

Ive got a 2002 silverado 1500 and a rusted out brake line near the back left tire and shock is spewing fluid everywhere and well I obviously have zero brakes. I would really rather not replace the whole line right now since I don't have the time or resources as of now. I was wondering if there was a way to replace a section of this line? Just for a few weeks. It's the steel line that comes straight from mid-frame and adapts into a rubber line right by the shock and then down into a split on the left center of the rear end (i know little to no terminology here, my apologies). I was thinking I could cut "upstream" a little ways from the horribly rusted section and remove the rubber line from the split and from there just use a union to reconnect a section of new steel line to the spliced portion and then feed it back into the split. Would this work? If you understood any of that...

I realized this morning if I do that Ill snap the line as soon as I hit a bump...lol. So nevermind

Do you by chance have $60 and about 30 spare minutes?

This link is for the ENTIRE brake line kit.

Just replace the line that is between the ABS pump and the caliper.

Then replace other lines when you have the spare time, or as needed.

Thanks! I was able to do what I had mentioned but was able to save the hose going to the split on the rear end and keep it installed. However, when I flared the old line it kept splitting (too fragile, i assume). So it obviously still leaked with the fittings. Plugging the rear line on the master cylinder will get me through the week until I can get to it. That's a genius idea, thank you. Full kit is on it's way.
