Android auto and texting

I know its quirky and doesn't work right but you would think it should work better.  I don't think I talk like an idiot but apparently Android Auto thinks so.

 

I have no issues with it interpreting what I say to create a message.  As a matter of fact when I say Text John Doe mobile that works fine too.

 

But when it says do you want to send it or cancel it does not seem to understand me saying "send it".  No matter how hard I enunciate the words, 90% of the time it fails and just goes back to whats your message.

 

Any tips?  I would like the option to use it.

Do what most people do. Lean over onto your armrest, type the message into your phone, swerve right and left, speed up and slow down, then hit send.

try just send vs send it ?

There are several messaging apps out there that are android auto compatible that do a better job at this. Just google android auto messaging app.

Try just saying yes or no if you want it sent or not.

I think its more distracting to use the vehicle or another app to text.

 

My truck reads the messages to me, which is fine. When my wife is bothering me (I don't really text anyone else) I just hit the little microphone button on the phone for voice -to-text. Speak into it. Hit send button.

 

Two whole button presses all while staying in my lane.

Saying Yes does not work nor does just send.

 

What I just noticed is it really doesnt matter if I say anything or not. I can just say nothing and it will do the same thing.

 

Maybe I will unpair it and removed android auto from phone and reinstall.

I just say "send it" very fast, works like a charm.

This is how Apple CarPlay works.  I can say yes, yup, yessir, yuppers, yah... and it will send.  Bless is not close enough to send the message though based on my testing.

Yea nothing seems to work. I tried stripping it off, repairing it, etc.

 

I am assuming when connected through android auto it uses the trucks microphone and not the phones?

 

Maybe I will try my wifes phone to see if its phone related.

Mine will do the same thing if i am in a area with weak cell signal.
