I just got my onstar report email and it said it couldn’t give certain reports because something was plugged into the obd2 Port. So it looks like they can tell it’s plugged in. I wonder if they can use this to void my my warranty.

What exactly does the email say? I changed out my dad's license plate bulbs to LED and the onstar report said that the lights where sending an error and should be checked out. I wouldn't worry to much about the email, if you ever need to take the truck in just remove the device the day or two before you go in.

No, there’s nothing there to void warranty.

I would of course unplug it if I have to go in for warranty but I thought the range wasn’t detected. I am sure the would ask what was plugged in. It just shows onstar is watching.

I bought a 3 way splitter for my ODBII, one for my amp steps, range, then the open one, I use for my Bluetooth ODBII for use with Torque app. With having this splitter, I put an inline on/off switch for the one I plug my range into. Just turn it off when I'm done for the day. So far hasn't shown up on my reports.

I got that email once in the last two years and 56k miles. Same with the led license plate lights. Wouldn’t worry about it. If your that paranoid about your dealer, unplug it a week before service. Your truck will show emissions not ready for testing during and after using range until you’ve completed 10 range free drive cycles including a cold start. But it won’t say who or what caused that.

I’d disengage Onstar immediately. Bastards were sending information out about my driving habits without my consent. Go on your app and make sure you opt out of sharing your driving habit BS! In addition, there’s something programmed on your vehicle too which you can find it (after a while lol) scrolling through your on screen setup through your radio display.

Through the vehicle computer possibly. I’ve got mine SuperChips sport mode tuned and loving it without any warnings of any sort.
