Space under center console for HAM Radio?

I recently bought a '15 with the full center console, and I'm looking to put in a HAM radio as well as a CB, like I had in my old truck. That being said, my ham has a remote head, so I need somewhere out of the way to mount the body, and I was hoping there might be some free space under the center console for that. If anybody has any knowledge of that, or has mounted a CB or ham radio in your truck, I'd appreciate any advice you might have.

Thanks in Advance,

I have a 15 as well and I have that big center console that's got the filing cabinet type thing in the middle I'm sure it would fit in there. Unless you're talking about under the cup holders and I doubt that there's room in there

Kind of hard to see from this picture but it's the only one I've got. There is quite a bit of wasted space under the front of the full floor console. This is where the Bose subwoofer is placed when that system is installed. There is a guy on Ebay that sells sub enclosures to fit this space and you may be able to contact him and ask for the dimensions. Here's a link to one of his auctions:

If you have the Bose system there is definitely no room under the console. If you don't have the Bose sub then it will very likely fit and it's pretty easy to get to. The other option is to put it in the storage area of the console. If you pull the rubber mat out there is a panel that can be unscrewed. I pulled that panel and drilled a hole to run some wiring to connect to some additional electronics I got from MVI. I also mounted an HMI/USB connector in that panel. Running the wires through that panel and through the console to the dash can be done without too much trouble particularly if you feed them out the lower side towards your foot well then tuck them back under the console once everything is connected. I've done this multiple times.

Yep, I’ve got the bose system. I’ll take a look at mounting em in the storage compartment though. Thanks.

I have an Icom ID-4100 radio installed in my 2017 GMC. I also have the Bose stereo. I made a custom bracket to hold the head unit just above the vent on the left of the steering wheel. The main unit us under the rear seat back. When mounting the radio under there you need to be careful as the seat back lowers when the seat is down. I put an NMO style antenna in the roof and love it. I would highly recommend that antenna install.

Here's the amount of space in the center of the floor console with the movable cup holder moved to the forward position. That's a 1 liter Nalgene bottle for scale. 2 of them will fit with room to spare. You would have no problem putting a CB in this space, and there is plenty of room under the front of the console for a head unit or amp.
