Very random remote start issue

My truck is a 14’ slt 4x4 stock except a small lift and a cold air intake

Very randomly does it not turn on with remote start, it’ll flash like it’s about to crank on but it doesn’t ever crank! Absolutely no check engine lights or any dash lights

Ive had it happen twice since I’ve owned it

But i cant replicate it, once it fails to start once ill crank it via key and shut it back off and the remote start, works again!

It had a brand new interstate battery as well

All ground cables are tight

Just kind if curios as to what may be causing this

Warranty just ran out and i paid cash for it so i dont want to go back to that dealership

It has gotta be a code, it might be something so small that it's not setting off any lights on the dash though. I have a K & N CAI on my 18 and had it on my 14, no problems ever on the 14 but I put it on my 18 and boom. About month or so after my remote start wouldn't work and finally it threw a code and my CEL came on. Took it in and it was getting too much air, took apart the whole intake and cleaned everything plus the filter. Put it back on and still had a CEL. I was getting mad at this point, put the stock intake back on and took it to the dealer, turned out to be a bad air sensor.

Try cleaning up the filter and see where you can go from there. Good luck!

At this point i find cleaning the air filter to be useless its been driven a total of 500 miles since the filter was installed
Ive rechecked all coupling and hose clamps and they’re all tight, I’ve scanned the truck and no codes
Whats weird is that if its a code wouldnt it just stop working completely and not just very randomly?

There is a 2 start limit of how many remote starts can be performed without a cycle of the key in the ignition. If you remote started it twice, regardless of how long ago, you need to cycle the key in the ignition before that feature is reactivated.

Other causes of loss of remote start are if your hood is popped, but this wouldn’t be fixed just by cycling the key. CEL would stop it, again, not fixed by the key. My money is on that you’ve just reached the max amount of remote starts.

Also, even if you remote start only once, but you extend the duration of that first remote start by pressing the lock and remote start button again, that counts as two cycles of the remote start and it will be inactive until the key is turned to start the vehicle normally.

I just noticed mine wouldn't start when i had my 4 ways on.

I had pulled up to my rental and put the flashers on but wanted to keep the truck warm so after i locked it i tried starting it, it wouldnt.

Don't rule out that the battery is getting weak.  If it down by to much the remote start in GM's start to act up.

You are reached the life expectancy of a AC Delco battery.

Had a similar, agonizing, issue years ago on my 07 sierra.

Mine turned out to be a intermittently failing throttle position sensor.

Once that was replaced, problem vanished.

Didn't throw codes until tps failed entirely, and had it towed in. They replaced the tps and all was well

Just my $0.05
