What synthetic engine oil do i use for my 2014 4.3 with over 110k miles?

I have been using Mobil 1 5 30 with Dexos but i just realized I'm way over 110k now. Should i switch it to something else now? A different viscosity oil? My truck has a lot of miles for a 2014 but i drive it soft. I rarely go over 2200 rpm etc. Your help is appreciated.

Is it using a lot oil?

Changing viscosity will help if it's using oil.

Unless it is burning it I would stay with 5w30. Mine has 185k and I am considering going to 0w40 M1

What you are using will be just fine.  You should bet 300k out of it no problems.

 

You didn't state that you had any problems like oil consumption.  If you do, then going to a 5w-30/10w-30 high mileage would be an option.

No leaks at all but it is consuming a quart to a quart and a half between oil changes. Every 5 k miles. Truck runs great so i was asking because i want to keep it running this way. Thank you guys for the quick replies. I love this website.

I know you have the 4.3 but my 2002 with the 5.3 was using a qt of oil in 6k miles.   Then an oil leak developed and so when I fixed the oil leak, which took several attempts before it was fixed.  The one thing that I did was change out the intake gasket and valley cover gasket.  After replacing those, my consumption went away.  No more issues.  So it seems I had a small leak when oil was getting sucked into the combustion from a leak under the intake.  I also noticed that the truck runs better and seems to have better throttle response. I'm currently at 184k miles.

Back in the day before knock sensor retard that would have sent the motor to the scrap yard.  Nothing promotes knock like oil in the chamber.

Thanks for this post. I'm going to take it in to get that checked on Saturday.
