for the front I had to cut the old brackets off the 07-13 seats and cut the 14-18 brackets off. And weld the old mounts onto the new tracks. (Careful to not weld the sliding tracks together). Then due to the design of the seats I made brackets out of ar500 plate to basically set my seats back about 6 inches. The new rails are shorter than the old ones. (I’ll post pictures here for you to see.) I haven’t came up with new shrouds to hide all this yet but have a couple things in mind. 

 

 

— as far as the power goes I have the passenger side working and the driver side working as well with all the basic movements. But I’m currently working on cross connecting the 30pin harness to the 48 pin harness now. If I can get it all done I should have all the heated seats and factory functions working through factory buttons on the dash. But it’s being a nightmare finding a diagram on the new seats. I have all the old harness wires figured out. 
the issue is with gm, they have the brain in the seats and if it’s not done correctly and where they talk then you get a Christmas tree on the dash. And or worse you pop the airbags in the new seats. (I suggest disconnecting these).

Did you end up finishing this swap? Would love to see the finished product. Also, what paint did you use to paint the interior and did it flow with the high country interior?

i just started doing this exact thing. (2016 denali seats in a 08 sierra) the back seats bolted right in as everyone said before. & i will be starting on making custom brackets tomorrow out of stainless angle iron for front seats. i already got the power seats to work, & i plan on trying to utilize the covers from the 07-13 seats to hide the rails on the 2016 seats. i will also be attempting to put the 2016 center console in as well and also trying to get all the charging ports working properly. but i haven’t made it that far yet lol

Your 08-13 seatbelt will bolt in as well, just you have to turn the locking tabs until you find a spot where it tightens down flat. (Not perfect fit but will work fine) .

 

I’ll try and keep posting updates on the truck as I go on but due to work it’s hard for me to actually get anything done on the project!

Does anyone know how to not trigger the airbag light with this swap? No one has really said anything in depth about wiring etc.  I’ve been holding off on swapping the front seats into my Denali because I’m scared the airbags in the dash etc won’t work .

Hey fellas, was browsing through Tiktok and I finally found someone who bit the bullet and did an entire seat swap with high country seats into an NNBS Silverado. He even did a dash swap and walked through how he did it all. I'll leave the link below!

Definitely has done a good job with those.  I wonder how he got the air bag light to stay off that way?

@evrx @Thats4b8guyI've gotten no response from any of the guys that have done this from this forum.  What I have found so far…rear seats bolt right in. The front seats require cutting the brackets off of your old seats and welding them onto the new ones. Another option is going with obsoutpost they make a bracket to adapt the new style seat to your truck.  Wiring for power is simple power and ground. If you have memory seats you have one more wire so that you can bypass the memory function.  The issue I’ve run into is the airbags.  I don’t know what wires cross reference so that you do t get the service airbag message..

      Exhaust Question

      I have seen different people in different places post different sizes of exhaust as stock for my 2014 Sierra L83. Some say 2.5 some say 2.75. I am considering replacing the muffler with a Dynomax Super Turbo, perhaps 17739.  I had the factory L83 5.3 replaced with another L83 5.3 from Jasper Engines. I also put new Walker Cat / Y pipe on. I would appreciate opinions suggestions about what would be a good muffler setup. My main interest is a low rumble and the best flow / fuel mileage I can get. Not interested in straight through glass packs or loud exhaust. Those days are way behind me now.  Thanks Guys.

      Its coolant disguised as oil.   TSB 20-NA-166 -  20-NA-166 1..3   "To inspect for this concern, add coolant dye to the system, run the engine through warm up, pressurize the cooling system after warming the engine to operating temperature (let the engine cool overnight) and inspect the suspect cylinder with a borescope for coolant dye evidence. At times it may be necessary to remove the head for inspection. If the head casting line is the concern, the intake port will be wet with a coolant oil mix"     I'd say its the head, and its either leaking at the casting line and dripping down the intake into the cylinder, or its another spot on the casting itself at the cylinder that is getting wet.

      Can you sample the pooled liquid, enough to confirm it is oil?   ...That its not fuel or coolant.   Also, make sure combustion gases aren't entering the cooling system.   Simply put, either oil being pushed up past the rings (this really isn't possible), oil leaking past the head gasket, oil leaking past the valve, oil entering through the intake air path. If none of this is likely - it may not be oil.   What could be likely is the fuel injector leaking down. A puddle of gas would still smoke and rough idle. (Same cylinder has the same problem after injector replacement?)   What is the crank time first thing in the morning, when the puddle would be present? Does it seem like the high pressure fuel pump needs an extra second or two to rebuild the pressure that injector 8 may have let bleed off? Check the fuel pressure via a scanner prior to starting the engine.

      Good information!  I didn't know about the dementia aspect and asked for a general for my second knee. I'd heard that recovery room time is usually shorter with a general.   The anesthesiologist talked me out of it and I had the spinal.  Inconvenience and/or discomfort is a small price to pay for reduced risk!

      This is for those over 70 years of age contemplating joint replacement surgery involving general anesthesia. Even some 55 yrs. ago when I took my pharmacology class the dangers of developing dementia in the elderly that had general anesthesia were beginning to be recognized. Over the years there has been some refinement in the cautionary warnings, avoid general anesthesia if possible if you've had close to 10 priors, especially over the age of 70 and/or a family history of dementia. I'm not including the twilight anesthesia induced by propofol often used in cytoscopies or colonscopies. Seriously think about seeing a neurologist and undergo cognitive testing before proceeding if any of those criteria apply to you. Spinal anesthesia may be an option in some cases. I'm in the above camp and although I could use a new right knee, I get fidgety according to a prior orthopedic surgeon when the bone saw spools up or maybe it was the smell of saw blade meeting bone, anyhow I may have one general anesthesia left in me which I will pocket for now and I'm choosing mind over mobility, anyway where did I leave my damn cane!
