2016 Silverado "reduced engine power" message

I recently purchased a 16 Silverado with the 5.3. Under hard acceleration I sometimes receive the "reduced engine power" message in the screen on the dash. I never notice any difference in power but was curious if this a normal condition with TC on. Could it just be trying to reduce power to prevent wheelspin? The truck also is lifted and has 35's on it too. It has been tuned to account for the larger tires from what I have been told.

I have a lifted 16 with 35s and it’s tuned with diablo tuner to accommodate the larger tire size and it does not give me that message. Do the rpms fluctuate at all during that message popping up?

Sounds like the torque tables are off. Stabialitrac is abs brake controlled TC is torque at commanded temp.

True power reduction is super slow speed low rpm. Also know as limp mode. Yours is tune related.

I haven't noticed any variance in the room what so ever. Just see the message come up.

It's doesn't go into limp mode and never seems to lose any power either. When I talked to the original owner he told me he had a hypertech tuner and has it on the 87 tune with correction for the tires also. I don't have the tuner that he used so I'm not sure what's the best way go here. I would assume that even I bought a new tuner it would store this tune as factory? What's my best options? It would be nice to be able to set it back factory in case I ever needed warranty work performed.

Hpt tuner and then download a trucks factory tune. Copy it over to your truck and write it. In there you can do anything. Worth every cent.

I'm not sure I'm capable of tuning in HP tuner...lol. My only tuning experience has been hooking up an SCT to my 11 F150 and install a tune. My fear with that is just thinking that when it attempts to download the factory tune it will use the one in the truck now as factory and I wouldn't have really accomplished anything.

It is scary I know but Super easy. You could use the tuner to pull the trucks tune and then push the compare and all fields that are red are different then stock. Honestly you can just become a free member of HPT forums and upload your unlocked file and say what you need. They will fix it. Or any tune shop can do the same or better based on your mods. You can even buy basic bolt ons and download a file that others post and copy over. There are how to videos on youtube.

Other than that the dealer can over ride it all and reflash the pcm but the cost is up there.

It's very scary for me. I don't want to ruin my new truck. I will look into it and see what I think. May try to get it back factory then get another tuner for it with custom tunes from someone.
