Hello,

I purchased a new 2018 Silverado LT Texas edition a few days ago. It has the 10 way power driver seat and i’m wanting to know if it’d be possible to convert the manual passenger seat to electric as well? I have a wife who is 5 foot and she can’t see over the dash very well and it makes her car sick, if we had the 10 way on the passenger seat she could raise it up and be fine. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

It’s been done but it’s a lot of work this might be a better solution in your case and a lot cheaper as well.

here’s a thread of someone who’s using one.

If you find a passenger seat the guy to reach out to on here is Phil Gamboa believe he did this on his own truck but with heated and cooled seats. He is also the guy you would want to get a harness from if you need a custom one to make it work.

Unplug your your passenger seat and inspect the body side connector. If you have the power and ground circuits, you should be ok.

This pic is for the driver side, but passenger side has the same power/ground locations.

Or passenger seat? I guess I was under the impression there was a lot more to it than just plug & play assuming you have power & ground? Maybe I was thinking of the W/Ts?

To get power adjust seats, all you need to have is power and ground.

Now with that said... LOL

If you get seats that are Heated/Cooled, most likely, the driver seat will have a Seat Memory Module underneath.

GM also came out with a Non-memory Heated/Cooled seat without the module.

Here is where it gets fun...

Seats that come from a Seat Memory truck will have the driver side power adjust controls routed completely different than a seat without the module. Basically, the power adjust controls go through the memory module, then to the motors.

I make a “Seat Memory Bypass Harness” that takes care of that. If you have the power and ground pins on the driver, and install the memory seat, you’ll lose power adjust controls on that seat. If you didn’t have power adjust to begin with, have the pins, and plug it in, it won’t adjust.

For the passenger side, there is no memory on the seat. So as long as you have the power/ground pins, it’ll adjust.

Next - Airbag System... LOL.

There are some circumstances where a Seat Position sensor is needed. Without it, the airbag light will come on. I’m not 100% sure what those circumstances are, but know that a sensor is needed if you get the light. For seat memory seats, the driver seat determines its position from the memory module. So if installing these seats, you may need to add a physical sensor since the memory module won’t be recognized.

Having any fun deciphering this yet? Lol

IF, you can get seats without the memory module, you’re in better shape.

IF you get memory seats, don’t lose hope as I can help you get them installed, powered. Just takes a little more effort, $, and time.

Don’t lose hope...

For the airbag light, I think this might be related to the release years. I think with 2016+ seats, you won’t need to worry about the seat position sensor.

Easiest method is to try to source seats that did not come from a seat memory truck.

If you find a deal on memory seats, still not the end of the world. You’ll just need memory bypass harness from me.

I just wanted to state full disclosure to understand all the gotchas with this.

So if I’m understanding this properly, I should be able to add a passenger powered seat with relative ease assuming that my truck has the power and ground under the seat? I’m not too worried about the drivers seat as it’s fine the way it is, I don’t need the memory functionality or heated/cooled. Assuming I can find a power passenger seat that matches my interior cloth and color scheme and my truck has the power then I’m golden?

Thank you for your help with this!

A few quick questions. I'm assuming all leather heated/cooled seats are memory seats? How much for the bypass harness?

I’ve seen heated/cooled seats without memory.

Bypass harness is $150.

You’re driver seat will have a tray to hold the module... except yours won’t have the module.
