Lowering 2017 Silverado W/O flip

I’m trying to figure out a way of lowering my 2017 Silverado in the rear without having to do a flip kit but still get the most drop as possible. I know I can drop it 3 inches by putting drop shackles and removing the block but that only makes it level with the front which I want lower. Would putting lowering leaf springs+ drop shackles work or would it cause issues? I’m fairly new to dropping trucks I’ve only ran lifted

Lowering leafs suck.  Flip is the best unless you link the rear

Lowering leafs tend to be really soft

So the rear will be really bouncy?

Not with good shocks. Think he means you wont be towing a 20 foot camper loaded down.

You have a few options. Shackles and removing the block being the best for 3'' drop. If you want to go lower you can go with springs and get a little more, may need to add the transmission spacer from Belltech or shim the axle to correct pinion angle as your only lifting the rear of the axle.

After this point you need to start raising the spring perches in the front. It is riveted to the frame and a labor intensive (That is the reason no one does it). My recommendation for anything past 3 is to do the flip kit.

Many companies offer a flip kit with the rear adjustable hanger so you can go lower if wanted. Well worth the money if your unsure just how low you want to go. With just a flip kit your not affecting the factory springs and can still tow very well if needed.

I am installing a 3" lowering kit this weekend if you need and photos I can get you some.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply! If you can send some pics that’d be great

It's actually less work to flip the axle than install leafs.  And the parts are way cheaper too.

I agree. Removing the fuel tank to get the Drivers leaf spring out is time consuming. Same reason no one moves the front spring perch upward.
