2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 problem

Fuel pumps usually last 100-125k, less if you frequently let the tank run down close to empty.  My guess is the fuel pump.

Check fuel pressure per above. Could be fuel pump or fuel filter.

If you have to replace the fuel pump, you will want to replace the fuel filter as well , so might as well replace filter first and see if any improvement.

(Chevy at 345k and on 3rd fuel pump , getting about 150k per pump)

I would say this one has around 170 on it.  Shitty weather in Maine freezing rain and no indoors to work.   That said I will try to get my probably rusted fuel filter off as soon as the weather cooperates.  It seems like it wants to go, so the filter would be a good try to start.  Thank you.

Update:  So replaced the Alternator and the battery and didn't fix the problem.  Replaced the Fuel filter this morning, still did not fix the problem.  So decided to replace the fuel pump.  That fixed the problem.   Tilted the bed up, I had sprayed the 8-bed bolts and fuel filter fittings for the last 3 days with PB blaster.  They came right off.  Overall I did it myself all of the parts were About $425 Using coupons to the Part store. Thank you all for your help.   MIKE

Knew it was fuel pump. Hopefully you got a good sending unit, gas gauge now as well.

Glad you got it fixed.  The bed is easy to remove. A friend and I just lifted mine off and set it down on jack stands.  Made working on the fuel pump so easy, not to mention cleaning all the mulch off the tank that got on it over the years of hauling mulch. :)
