Remote start question

I bought a 2013 Silverado last month that has an OEM remote start. When I use it to start the truck it doesnt activate the air/heat or the radio. I thought these things were supposed to turn on too.  I'd like to be able defrost the windows a little before I get in. Also the aftermarket radio takes some time to boot up so if I need to use the reverse camera, I have to wait a min or two. Not a major issue but more something I'm curious about.

No, the radio is not active on a remote start.

 

With regards to the climate control - based on the outside temperature, the computer should activate the heat/defrost or A/C.  This is the case on both of my GMT900 trucks, but they both also have auto climate control.  Not sure if it's different if you have the manual climate control.  If it's cold, the heated mirrors/rear defroster are active and the heater is active.  If it's hot, the A/C is active.  In both cases, the computer overrides whatever the climate control was set at when the truck was turned off.

Climate control depends on whether the truck has a manual or auto system. This is from page 2-4 of the owner's manual...

 

Remote Vehicle Start

If available, this feature allows you to start the engine from outside of the vehicle. It may also start up the vehicle's heating or air conditioning systems and rear window defogger. Normal operation of the system will return after the key is turned to the ON/RUN position.

 

If the vehicle has an automatic climate control system, the climate control system will default to a heating or cooling mode depending on the outside temperatures. If the vehicle does not have an automatic climate control system, the system will turn on at the setting the vehicle was set to when the vehicle was last turned off.
