I have a leveled 2017 gmc sierra, iv always hated the chrome rims that came with it so I recently decided to get new rims and tires.  Wow am I overwhelmed with the different options.  I finally found something I liked and now my tire shop is saying it wont work with my truck......TO much trimming would be required.  in the picture is what I'm wanting to do....it has 20x10 fuel rims with 33x12.5 nitto trail grapplers on a 3.5 rough county lift.  I'm wanting to do almost the same setup but run nitto ridge grapplers in the same size as the trail grapplers.

after tire shop said it wont work Iv been googling around and I see may others running this rim/tire combo with little to no trimming.....so I'm confussed.

can someone help he here?

please and thank you!

Appreciate the positive input. Currently, I’m running Fuel 20x9 +1 offset wheels, 34” Nitto Ridge Grapplers with a 4.5” CST Lift. I was running the same wheels but with 33’s when just leveled. I couldn’t recommend doing anything as far as a level taller than 2.25” cause max would be 2.5” and still recommend new UCA’s. Leveling gave me a rough ride so I switched to lifting with very high quality lift company that didn’t widen my track width or turning radius.

As far as going 20x10’s I wouldn’t be the one to ask cause I’m not into any wider wheels than 20x9’s. If you’re looking at keeping your truck for many more years to come then I’d highly recommend doing a lift cause it’s very well worth it. There are plenty of guys on the site much more knowledgeable than me especially with 20x10’s. Again, leveling doesn’t give you as well as a ride as lifting with a high quality lift especially with coilovers, that’s just the bomb.

High quality coil overs give the best ride quality

As do the rears too with add a leaf.

There’s a member jimmyboy8301 that’s got lots of knowledge when it comes to wider wheels.

Btw, I leveled only cause I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get into my garage if lifted. I was wrong, I can still get into my garage with a couple inches to spare from the shark fin on the roof. I highly recommend keeping your antenna as it’s excellent for clearance guidance. I’m still getting into parking garages too as long as they’re standard 7 ft or taller. In addition, you’re going to need a diff drop too going higher as a level, highly recommend lifting which comes with all the goodies already.

Would you mind sharing the total cost for that lift? Or PM me? I’m running into all kind of problems leveling, and just wondering if I should just bite the bullet and get a lift. I have no clue what the cost would look like though, and just want to see if it’s even a remote possibility for me. Your truck looks awesome btw!

Appreciate it. The CST lift is 1600, plus install which approximately 800 which includes front alignment. You’ll have to get new rear shocks which will be a total of $200 a pair. You do not need to do anything else to achieve the lift. Here’s the thing, you’re keeping your same track width and turning radius as well as stock ride. The CST lift allows you to keep your stock wheels and up to 35” tires which actually saves you money. Most all lifts will make your wheels have a wider stance (IMHO looks stupid) requiring you to add controversial spacers which I’d never do but to each their own. Wheels, IMHO are disposable like tires cause you’ll end up beating them up on curbs and also recommend wider tires giving you great wheel protection) you can keep what you’ve got just get larger tires down the road if you want.

There are going to be many on these forums running cheaper setups and to each their own but, knowing I’ve got a bullet proof suspension setup puts a big smile on my face. If you don’t care about widening your track width and turning radius but “WILL” have to buy new wheels then go with a cheaper ZONE lift and spend more on wheels but remember to protect them with wider larger tires. You’ll also need rear (controversial) spacers added in order to even out the look cause the front will make your front wheels and tires poke out about two inches, widening your track width.

A typical quality lift with wheels and tires is approx $5K

A bullet proof (full welded, reinforced gussets welded into lift, heavy duty thick steel and superior painting process second to none highest quality lifts available)CST lift, keeping your wheels and tires is approx 1600 for lift, 200 for rear larger shocks and 800 for install which included alignment. Looking at $2600 keeping your wheels and tires.

Later, whenever you’re ready and if you want you can always upgrade your shocks, wheels and tires.

I’d highly recommend for you to stay away from Rough Country Lifts.

Here’s a great deal on a 4.5” CST Stage 1 Lift kit

Always remember, with suspension parts, you ALWAYS get what you pay for, never settle just to get a look, you’ll pay for it down the road.

I'm running a Zone 4.5" with Bilstein 5100s set at 1.25" and run 33" Nitto Ridge Grapplers with 20x10 Provas in the winter and 22x10 AF Grips in the spring/summer/fall. I have no trimming and don't rub at all.

I have a 2015 GMC With a RC 2.5” level with 33X12.50 duratrack tires, MOTO 20x10 -24offset and they rub a good bit on the drivers side back of the finder well (clears front fine).  I’m going to try some trimming this weekend base of this video from custom offset.

Job is not complete unless you have left over parts.  Lol. Did the trim job today really only took 15 mins per side if you confident in what your doing.  I would have a small grinder on hand aswell, I had to use it to get the saw started and round a few edges.
