18 Sierra Grill insert removal??

Anyone know how to remove the chrome grill inserts? Do they just snap in or bolted etc? I’m gonna be painting them black which is why I’d like to remove them. Thanks!

Not sure on the Sierra but I removed the top piece on my Silverado. It had clips and tab inserts that were melted.

It was a PITA.

Are you painting yourself or having a professional do it? Either way the chrome will have to be stripped off. If you paint directly over the chrome it will peel and flake in no time, unfortunately I know from experience.  I've got your exact grille already painted in black (done professionally). Let me know if you're interested in buying, it's brand new and was never mounted (I went with a different grille).

What are you wanting for the grill??  I wouldn’t need that gmc logo. I’d prefer to keep the red logo I have.
