Anyone heard about EZ-D yet??

EZ-D. The DVD for lazy people. Unlimited plays for 48 hours. After that, poof. No more movie for you! Then your left with a cool looking coaster for your coffee table. I wonder if Blockbuster and other movie rental places will jump on this type of technology.

Imagine what would happen if the RIAA decided all audio CD's shuld be like the EZ-D...................

All those music execs moaning because nobody buys cd's. Lars Ulrich is crying so much hes buying stock in Kleenex. Sue the people that download MP3's to a point where nobody will download anymore. (Wont happen IMHO) Get people to buy this automatic erasing CD. You listen to it for a while. Then when you least expect it, erases itself. If you like the cd, you have to buy it again...

Im not interested in that crap!! Ill stick with MP3s's!

Sounds like a reincarnation of the DIVX idea. It was a DVD product that was available right about the time DVDs were becimng popular. You could watch it for a set amount of time, after which it became useless unless you purchased another viewing. It never caught on, for a good reason.

I was going to say the samething, reminds of the the DivX idea that never really took off. These new "timed DVD's" are more "advanced" now being they can have different expiration dates. For me I'm still staying away from them. For movies I really like, they are usually discounted their first week so get it then...

Wasted effort. Maybe they should ask Circuit City about it (they heavily backed DIVX, and I am certain they regret it).

How the heck would they make it timed? It's embedded in plastic! Sounds like some fake technolog to me. Go with netflix. I think it's a great deal and they have way more movies than Blockbuster or Hollywood Video has

How its timed has to due with some chemical below the readable layers of the DVD. When the chemical hits air a reaction starts to take place. The EZ-D cd comes out of the package red. But after the time period elapses the disc turns black and is then unreadable.
