Speed governer on 19's?

A kid told me today he had his '19 RST up to 130 mph.  Said it shut off at 130 mph.   Was he BSing me?  I didn't argue, just listened.

To a kid, 103mph is 130mph. ?

Mine shuts down at 112, tried it 3 times with the same result.

The shutoff is based on the speed ratings of the original tires.

 

My AT4 with the Q rated LT275/65R18 Duratracs shuts off at 98 mph.

Yup. My max tow 6.2 shuts down at 98. Bummer.

Road & Track says it is governed at 98 mph with the V-8.
