08 Silverado purchase

Looking at buying a 2008 Silverado 1500 ls crew 4x4 158k for $9000. Rust free. Does this seem like a good deal and also is it realistic to a good 4-5 years without dumping a ton of money into it besides normal wear and tear. It'll be a daily driver putting on roughly 15,000 miles a year. Also it has the 4.8 so no afm issues to worry about.

Be sure to check the transmission, maybe time for an overhaul.

If not done already it will likely need or soon need new front hubs and a suspension/steering overhaul.

Loaded question if ever one there was. Service life has to do with....well....service and of course use. Do yourself a favor and take it to a shop you really trust. Have them look it over real good. Pull wheels and look a brakes, test suspension, pull the trans dip stick. Does it look well maintained or just well detailed. The bed will tell you allot about how it was used. Hitch? How does it drive. Place I go does the service for free. He gets 99% of all my work so he has a vested interest in our relationship.

You get a truck from the right guy and 158K is just getting warmed up. Get it from the wrong guy and it matters little how well it looks. As far as being a deal? If it's a keeper it could be. If not it's a lot of money to pay for a parts truck.

Buying used is a roll of the dice IMO especially older higher mileage ones.

Grumpy Bear gives some good advice.

I have always bought used vehicles but buy them newer with low miles and have never bought a problem child.

It’s priced a little high for my neck of the woods, 5-7K around here. I’ve seen those year models get to 300K with proper care.
