So I bought my 2014 Silverado LTZ Z71 used and ended up getting s brand new transmission installed by the dealer under warranty weeks later. I’ve put about 37K miles on that new transmission. I’ve noticed that on long trips, when I come to a stop and accelerate, I experience a slip between 2nd and 3rd. This problem only happens if I have been driving a while at high speeds (60mph+) and my transmission is warmed up. The temp reading is usually around 196F when this happens. Anybody know what could be causing this?

does the engine rpm jump when it is slipping , if it is new you should have warranty

Yes the RPMS do jump a bit. I have like 37K miles on the new trans so it’s not covered by warranty anymore.

There are no new 2014 transmissions.  Most likely the dealer replaced the transmission with a partial rebuild.

Friction plate in your torque converter is failing.

Pull your pan and check your magnet. If it has a thick gray paste it’s about to let go.  If it goes, metal will migrate through the unit.

While traveling from Ohio to South Carolina my 2015 Sierra 1500 transmission failed at 85,000 miles due to a torque converter failure.
