Yukon xl or a suburban?

They are almost  the same vehicle  but i want to hear  everyone's opinions on their preferences and why. Outline some differences between the 2. I decided  on a suburban lt with luxury package because i like the headlights vs the yukon xlt for about 550$ less.

It really depends what trim level you're look for, the hierarchy is something like this:

Denali

Premier

SLT

LT

LS/SLE

If you want the 6.2, engine you might as well go Yukon Denali. The 6.2 package Suburban only comes with the brown interior, which I personally am not a fan of. Denali has more interior options and is about the same price. Otherwise, the Premier lets you have a 5.3 with pretty much all of the Denali features. The GMC SLT is better than the Chevy LT because you can get a few more premium features (vented seats, ACC) without stepping up a trim level and costs about the same as an LT. The SLE/LS are pretty much fleet vehicles.

I'd say it really comes down to what features you want, especially the 6.2 engine. However, IMO a 5.3 with the Max Tow Package (3.42 rear end) is about 90% as good as a 6.2 and doesn't require premium gas. 6.2 only gives you a 3.23 rear end, because for some reason GM is too prissy to allow a 6.2/3.42 combo.

Personally, after extensively test driving both and spending over an hour nit-picking them side by side at the dealership, I went with a Suburban Premier 5.3 with the max tow package. I didn't really want 22" rims or a black interior, which literally every Denali within a 250mi radius of me had. When I saw my Suburban on the lot, I knew it was the one. 20" rims, tan interior, max tow pack, adaptive cruise, 4x4, everything I wanted, nothing I didn't.

I would agree with Mandalorian of what he just’ve said.

I would add the RST trim, not so sure if it is available at the long base not only Tahoe. So that would be “Denali, RST (6.2), Premier, ...”

GMC yukon and Yukon XL comes with laminated glass all over the vehicle for much noise cancelation and quitter compartment, Tahoe and Suburban comes with laminated at front and tampered for the rest.

The Denali sound system comes with extra feature of noise canceling through sound system to sense the noise and send signals to cancel them.

Moreover, I think that GMC is much tougher.

I do have Tahoe because I liked the look much better, yet both of them are great vehicles.

For both choices, anyone needs to think about Magnetic Ride Control, automatic retractable running board, axel ratio, as well as 22” wheels if they need them or not.

This is exactly why I just went with a Yukon XL SLT (no additional options).  Same price as Suburban LT Luxury but included Vented Front Seats. Plus I like the look of the GMC better.

Yeah it pretty much comes down to what you're looking for. My story is similar to @Mandalorian.

I did like the styling of Yukon XL a bit better, but I needed Magnetic Ride, which defaults you to the Denali trim on the Yukon and also the 6.2L V8, which I really didn't want due to technically requiring premium fuel. The 5.3L with Max Tow and the 3.42 gearing is more than good enough for me, and only regular grade gas needed. I also did NOT want a black interior (or exterior), and I could not find a single Denali with anything other than the black interior, and the few that had something other than a black exterior (like white), still had black interiors!!! UGH! I was buying a closeout 2018, so custom ordering wasn't an option, but that's pretty much what you'd have to do if you want anything other than a black interior.

I'm happy with what I finally found. 2018 Suburban Premier with TAN interior, Max Tow with 3.42 gearing, Adaptive Cruise and HUD, and no moonroof or DVD stuff. It did have the 22" wheels that I didn't really want, but they do look nice, and it had the added anti-theft package stuff too, that I really did want. Some of that stuff is really hard to find. I'm still split on the Pepperdust exterior, but it hides dirt and grime really well and doesn't get too hot, so I guess it works! :)

Good luck!

To be honest after i looked at all of them (Escalade, GMC and Chevrolet) it boils down to external design and some internal features.

I dont like a lot of chrome, the Escalade tones of it, the Escalade has that real odd touch screen stuff going on, however the basics appear all the same.

Escalade and Suburban Premier both have multi zone climate control, both have heated and cooled seats, however the Suburban has way less chrome and i prefer the inside design of black leather and some wood and thats it... so prefer the Suburban.

The Escalade lights might be a little better (LED etc....) however you can retrofit the suburban with after market rear lights so really depends on pocket money level and what design you like.
