A few months ago came back to my truck and some overweight hausfrau in a moo-moo was taking a video of my truck for posting on the internet offering her 2 cents commentary how some inconsiderate A-hole was parking in a disabled space without a pass. I strung together a few expletives to spice up her video along with comments that if she was as tall as she was wide and her glasses weren't as thick as her neck she might have seen the disabled pass with the damaged mirror hanger displayed at the bottom of the front windshield. Lucky for her she waddled off before my wife came out of the store......my comments must have discouraged her from posting it, but I really would have liked a copy to show my friends.

Just sayin'....plenty of 'em out there.

An option to bad mouthing someone not as fortunate as you in appearance or mind is to fix your handicap card to hang in a manner that is clearly visible. I've had one for many years and I understand that they may require a little tape nearing their expiry date. I am more physically challenged than many and I recall a similar situation to the one you described. My card was laying on the dash and hard to see without some effort. Coming out of the store I saw a woman closely scoping out my truck in search of a handicap notice. I thanked the lady for watching out for those of us with legitimate challenges. It is unfortunate that people will park in designated handicapped spaces and I appreciate those who make the effort to stand up for those in need.

Goody for you, I don't. Permanently disabled passes designed for base mirror mounts are issued for 5 year expiry in this State, and after years in the heat being constantly transferred between vehicles squashed around models with different mirror mounts with GM windshield object recognition - autobraking camera systems for which they were not designed. Law states "prominently posted on display on the windshield" not only on the mirror so it is visible to some busybody hausfrau in a moo moo can see it. If it is good enough for me top meet our legal requirements and personnel in U.S. law enforcement to recognize and not issue a summons.......then it's good enough for any two-shoes busybody that should know what they are doing before they go tilting at some imaginary windmill. And I was a gentleman giving her only a verbal castigation, what she rightly deserved was a kick in the a$$.

And you miss the point entirely - the bad mouthing (ooooooh - oooooooh) was done for a specific purpose - to embarrass the photographer making her look like a fool and thus discourage from her posting her video on the internet showing my vehicle and plate number. Your logic might make some sense to somebody in less populated areas North of the 49th parallel, not down here. Doesn't take much these days to inspire another lame-o hausfrau, a self appointed crusader or group of them to annoy me or worse show up at my doorstep. Could make for a real dicey confrontation in a "Constitutional right to carry" and "right to no retreat" State.........these concepts might seem foreign to our Northern neighbors.

Actually have a combo smoke/CO detector under the passenger seat of the vehicle.....cheap enough, just transferred from the '16 to the '19. Good insurance, but wasn't intended primarily for the vehicle although good assurance for that purpose and as a convenient place for storage. Fitted with a doorknob hanger for use when staying overnight at any hotel or motel.

The issue should have nothing to do with the appearance of the individual and my response has nothing to do with geography. In both of our circumstances somebody was trying to make sure designated parking is kept available for you and me. You see this a bad thing, I don't.

Life is a game......some of us play chess; some checkers......better to move fast always prepared for battle making sacrifices where necessary for greater gain, than sliding along always forward smiling with no chance for retreat just begging to get jumped.

Moo moo was out of her league trying to impose social justice for a matter legally assigned to police officials. A checker player hoping for a social checkmate to become an internet celebrity at someone else's expense, but she forgot too examine the board carefully and make a valid tactical decision.....result, King takes Pawn......moo moo waddles away with cell phone and useless video. Good riddance, hope she learned a lesson to mind her own business and get a life.........if she doesn't the next person may not be as civil as I was.

Just leave your pets at home when grocery or hardware store shopping or going out for dinner. If your separation anxiety is that bad, please see a doctor.

I'm with ya. I wouldn't bring my dog to a grocery store out of respect to others. Some people are deathly afraid of dogs. If the dogs pees or craps will you clean it? Pet Smart yes grocery shopping? Never... I promise your pet will be ok at home while you grocery shop. Ridiculous to me.

My dog is very good but excitable and he loves people. I can't imagine trying to manage him while shopping for groceries or whether else in a busy store. What do your dogs do when you go to work? Church? Etc.

I take my dog with me only when the weather permits it, like leaving the windows cracked open in the evening when it's 70 degrees or less and when I leave her I always come back to either her curled up on my seat sleeping or sitting on the console watching for me to come back. She's only 11 pounds so she's easy to handle in the truck.

As the OP, I was referencing a planned trip to go fly fishing where I am taking my German Shepard. He can do what he does best, sit and overlook while I am in the stream. I was not suggesting that I was going to tote the dog around everywhere I go.

i tend to side with the OP with regards to SJW and the desire for everyone to look like a hero exposing someone on a FB page. I see it a lot. That said, there are still idiots leaving children in hot cars to die. to go that way is a horrible death and while i understand the parent already suffers the loss of their child(we give them the benefit of the doubt even though they caused the death) i believe they should receive lengthy prison time. most don't. killing a child in any manner is probably the worst thing a person can do. i would never leave my child in a locked car with it running to go in a store. there is nothing i need worth that. as for dogs, they are pets and owners have a responsibility but some regard the act of leaving a pet in a car equal to a child and that's insanity at its finest. i would personally not take a dog to a store or restaurant. IMHO the feature to start a car when youre not in it should be used only for warming or cooling it down. not for babysitting.

I dog hanging out in the truck with a/c running for 30-45 mins, does not seem like an issue to me. If you are traveling with a pet, for whatever reason, you simply can not bring them inside a restaurant. I would not classify this as babysitting. Would I leave a baby in a car for 30-45 minutes? Absolutely not. As I stated in my first post, dogs have come up in the world, but there is still a huge difference between a human and a pet.

I agree there is no comparison to killing to a pet to a human but allowing either to die in a hot car is abhorrent. I understand that the plan is to leave the air conditioning on but it is not uncommon for pets to die in hot cars even though the owner took steps to keep the vehicle cool. Pet ownership can be inconvenient. When travelling, my wife and I get our meals at a drive-thru even though we'd far rather dine inside a restaurant. When stopping at a grocery store, one of us shops while the other takes the dog for a walk.

If you insist on leaving an animal in an unattended vehicle with the A/C for any length of time - A responsible thing to do is buy a thermometer with a remote sending unit ....sending unit in the car and receiver with you in the restaurant and periodically monitor the interior temperature. Cheap enough around $20-$30, even have waterproof models like the one I keep in my outdoor hot tub in case the GFI trips.

Not only good for the animal in case of a engine stall or A/C crap out, but a good CYA in case some self appointed vigilante busybody decides to call the police.

Just watched a GM video where he showed that you can turn off the automatic shutdown by holding down the start button for at least 10 seconds when starting the car. It does turn back on when you turn off the car so you would need to do it each time you want to leave it running for a long time.
