Did everyone make it through todays severe weather OK?  I know Siume99 was in Tenn when it was hit with severe weather, and you guys are spread out all over the country, so I just want to make sure everyone and their families are OK.

We had some raod closures and some tornado warnings here in Western PA, but everything bad was about 15 miles North of me...

My brother in law lives in LaPlata MD and I guess they got hit pretty hard...

Nothing happened in Richmond today, but overnight Shenandoah (Which is where I was this weekend) got hit with some T-Storms and heavy rain. It made for some fun action leaving the grassy field parking lot earlier today.

I was at Tom's in SC all weekend so I missed it all, but when I got back to WV this afternoon there was no internet in my building or the next building.  Obviously it is fixed now.     Other than that I didn't notice any damage around here.  I heard we lost power for a while though, but it couldn't have been too long, because nothing in my Frig. went bad.

It was just a bit windy all day here in NC.  Was suppose to rain all day yesterday and today.  We just ended a tornado watch.  So far nothing.  (knock on wood)

We were under a severe TS warning and a tornado watch until 10:00 PM on 4/28.  The storm completely petered out before it got close to us.

Good - no storm

Bad - we need that rain dernit!!!!!!!

VERY WINDY! (40mph) but no rain or other weather problems.

Actually changed the plugs and wires in a 1991 Z28 and a 1998 Z28.  We had to use a broom to prop the hood up.  The struts/springs counldn't hold up to the wind.

Nasty in western PA yesterday. @ 1" rain in an hour. Winds in the low 60 mph range. No tornados that I know of but lots of trees down and roofs damaged. I was at a Vette cruise-in at the Quaker Steak & Lube in Sharon, storm came in fast, hail about 1/4" for 5 mins. Thankfully no damage to the 'Hoe. Vette owners sure were scramblin. Mike

I was in Bristol, TN yesterday (Sun) for the NHRA Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals, and even though it started an hour late due to rain it was sunny all the way up until the final round and it started looking bad. Since Ron Capps and TJ were out we decided to leave then and by the time we got to the parking lot it was starting to rain but I see they did get the race finished. Anyhow about 30 minuted out of Bristol it was raining so hard we had to pull over, but made it home to find out that we had got a pretty bad hale storm here in WV! Glad my Silverado was in the garage while I was gone!!!

Mike,

I grew up in Erie Pa and now I'm living about 20 miles East of Sharon, PA.  The "Lube" is a great place to eat and they have alot of cool motorsports drive-ins.  I know they get thousands of bikes every week for "bike night".  My buddy takes his '69 Z28 down there all the time for fun too...

Why can't this damn rain ever stop?  We've only gotten 150 acres of corn planted and a long ways to go.  I went home for the weekend and was able to get two fields planted in the four good hours we had Friday night, but then it rained.   Yes, while all of you were out living it up on the town I was planting corn, and thats the way I like it.  The way its looking now we'll be rained out of the fields for the next ten days, by then I'll be done with school and it'll be balls to the walls to get done.  Friday night it was supposed to storm some, large hail possibly, so dad and I had to figure out a way to stuff the tractor/planter combo, truck, and two cars in the machine shed where space is currently at a premium.  Of course nothing happened, which is good.

We had 2 tornados go through the county i live in...  The closest one was about 8 miles north of me.  i think there were 4 tornados all together in Western Pa, and the town where my brother in law lives (LaPlata, MD) was pretty much wiped out by an F-5 twister.

    • Those are parts changers. It can get expensive though. I was a mechanic for 30 yrs. My truck has made this noise since new. I really don`t know what it is. It really doesn`t bother me. I`m still in warranty but have not brought it to the dealer.   I`m not buying the oil pump prime thing. Screw the TSB. I believe it`s in the trans pump gears. They rattle when that piss poor ULV oil drains off after a while. I believe those sharp tooth gears, with backlash, can rattle when dry. Not a vane style oil pump. Wonder who`s right? Me, or the TSB?🤔   Maybe I`m wrong?
    • Sounds about right. I miss the days of mechanics lol.
    • On the PCM side, blue PCM connector, pin 18, solid gray color (no stripe) wire circuit 435.  That is the EGR low circuit which an issue on that line (be it the wiring, the PCM or the EGR valve or system performance) will trigger P0401 when it tests that code.     There is also a VERY old TSB that states to make sure you clear the DTCs ANY time the PCM is unplugged, reprogrammed, or if the EGR valve is unplugged or replaced as the PCM has an auto zero function in the PCM for the EGR pintle data   61-65-59: SMU - SECTION 6E - ENGINE CONTROLS - CLEAR DTC'S - (Nov 25, 1996)   "CLEAR ANY DTCS FROM THE VCM ANYTIME AFTER DOING VCM REPLACEMENT/ PROGRAMMING, TURNING THE IGNITION ON WHILE THE EGR VALVE IS DISCONNECTED, OR REPLACING THE EGR VALVE."   Some diagnostic aid notes in the GM diag on P0401 for a 1995 S10 Blazer:   Diagnostic Aids Notice: In order to prevent further damage if the EGR valve shows signs of excessive heat, check the exhaust system for blockage (possibly a plugged converter) using the procedure found on the restricted exhaust system check. If the exhaust system is restricted, repair the cause; one of which might be an injector which is open due to one of the following reasons: Stuck Grounded driver circuit Check the oil for possible fuel contamination if a stuck open fuel injector is found. Poor connection or damaged harness - Inspect VCM harness connectors for the following conditions: Backed out terminal BL 18 Improper mating Broken locks Improperly formed or damaged terminal Poor terminal to wire connection Damaged harness Intermittent test - If connections and harness check OK, monitor a digital voltmeter connected between terminal BL 18 and ground while moving related connectors and wiring harness. If the failure is induced, the voltage reading will change.
    • maybe get a service manual off ebay?  or check charm.li (website) or subscribe to alldata.com for it?
    • This biggest difference in a HM oil is in contains some  "Seal Conditioner". DEXOS oils and most shelf oils are "Dry" oils which over time harden seals. "Seal Conditioner" is more times than not, an Ester. Addition will soften the seals over time but will not repair one that leaks or has cracked. Esters also provide some cleaning but these HM oils don't contain enough to solve out hard deposits. Just the soft stuff.  Also a function of an Ester.    Ester's are not 'allowed' as a 'co-base" by license. Weird, right?  A certain amount is allowed as an additive. Bunch of game playing is what it is. It's why HM oils don't have a DEXOS approval.    DEXOS is a license 'with' a specification but is not a specification. Never was, never will be. It's GM's slot machine always paying the house. Use what you like.
