Surging

2019 New Style with 5.3. Unhooked batt cable installed cold air intake and cat back system. Now I have a surge most anywhere in the useful rpm range. No tuners made for it yet. Can anyone offer a solution.

So this may be a stretch, but I once had to swap the battery on my wife's camry after 3 or 4 years of use.

Immediately after installing it, the car started running like crap and would even stall.

So I figured maybe the computer needed time to relearn a bit or adjust, so I took it around the block and then drove it on the freeway for about 20 miles. Problem solved.

So try driving it around for at least 20-30 minutes,  and see if it helps.

Also make sure anything you may have unplugged to get the intake in, is properly plugged back in.

Somewhat similar experience for me in my old K2 when unhooking the battery trying to see if the GPS antenna/unit was bad or just needed a "reset".  Hooked battery back up & GPS definitely was not working (no directional heading) but what went haywire on me was the outside temp reading & the climate control system.  Outside temp was reading 32°F & climate control was blowing hot air (when set to auto & 70°F) in the heat of the summer.  Did some searching online and IIRC, I found something that said to get the truck out and up to 45mph for a couple of miles - tried it and sure enough, as soon as I hit 45, the outside temp started climbing & the climate control started to cool down.

Another option is to put the original intake back on and see if it does the same. If its surging again then its not the intake. If its not surging then put the new CAI on and verify no leaks, do the 20 min drive to see if it relearns. if not, put the oem back on and wait for a tuner to offset the CAI.

EDIT: keep the battery connected the whole time. this will keep the testing consistent. Also why did you pull the battery connection?
