Installed a RotoFab Cold Air Intake on my Trail Boss

I love the sound and performance that I got from this CAI. RotoFab must've done a lot of research and testing to get that much performance out of just a CAI, no tune needed either. I did an install and review video on it. What do you guys think?

Thank you for this video. It is well done and the CAI looks good.   I don't believe the claims by the manufacturer of power increase and improved mileage but if we believe our vehicle is more powerful then it is a good modification.

I didn’t believe either, but I am seeing gains. Consistently shaved almost 2 tenths 0-60. In depth results posted below. Not life changing but a nice bonus. Fuel economy difference, well, not here. They might be being a little cheeky claiming “up to” 2 MPG increase, but certainly there is room for improvement from the factory assembly that prioritizes NVH reduction and cost over power.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'll never see the 2 MPG increase even if it is possible. I like hitting the accelerator a little too much now lol. I really like the new sound.

Roto-Fab is one of the better if not the best made CAI on the market. So far the gains that RF posts are typically pretty legit, several times people post the typical CAI comment of "CAI do nothing for the vehicle" and in the RF case the independent test at other shops have proven that RF does indeed produce gains that can be seen on the dyno and on the road in real world testing.

People need to understand that the OE Manufacture like GM have to meet certain government required NVH requirements along with designing the system to meet certain power goals that fit within the powertrain certification that GM has to pay big $$$ for as well. GM also has to design a air intake system that is fool proof and idiot proof for those people who dont take care of their vehicles and push them to the extreme.

I do appreciate that GM has many government/environmental/public demands to consider.  I also know that the emissions restrictions and fuel costs continue to be the biggest challenge to increasing power.  Currently my 6 cyl. pickup is 2.5 times more powerful than my 70's 6 cyl. pickups and burns about 30% less fuel.

These improvements have resulted from a great deal of research and development while adhering to strict regulations.  I am skeptical that such a simple modification as suggested in this thread would provide measurable power gains while reducing fuel consumption and not already be standard equipment.  I would be more of a believer if more power was gained at the trade-off of higher fuel consumption.  I do share Op's enthusiasm about such products and would also believe the improved airflow is healthier for my engine.  Hell, I  think my truck runs better after an oil change and wash!

So far over the past week on my daily driving I am seeing a 1mpg on average increase. I didn’t buy it for this but it is what I am seeing. Can’t complain averaging 18-19mpg back and forth to work daily in a 6.2

That's good news!  Even if the improvement is due to a greater awareness of driving  habits, this helps make the mod worthwhile.

I am assuming this is the 6.2L LT Trailboss? Any opinions on the 5.3L in regards to a CAI?

No 6.2 in the TB for 2019.  Should be the 5.3...
