Replacement jack

Recommended Posts

So my wife got a flat on the trunk and I had to go to the rescue. Had I been at home I would have brought my floor jack...

So I used the price of junk GM sends with it and the base bent and truck fell off the jack. Didn't get the tire off yet thank God. Tried again and it was no good so I over filled the tire and limped it home.  We were about 8 minutes from home.

So I'd like to replace it with something that works.

What do you recommend. A bottle jack?

Thanks

Bottle jack I found was best but I had a bottle jack with a "U or V" shaped steel plate on top was nice on the rear axle or A-arms. Back in the day I had the Escalade ext. And with 22"(big at the time) the factory jack didn't work. Same issue with aftermarket lugs. I had to keep a socket in the truck.

Not worth the money. It's happened once in 15 years.

A $20 bottle jack will fix this issue. But if time has proven anything I will never used it lol.

If you get a Harbor freight jack, better get a heavy duty plastic bag so you don't ruin the carpet when it leaks.

Why not just get a compact 2 ton floorjack and keep it either under the rear seat or ratchet strapped in the bed? That's what I'm gonna do from now on after my blowout on my boat trailer this summer.

I'd have to make sure it can get high enough

Probably wouldn't go HF something else. But putting it in a bag is a good idea.

We used to have a modified air bag from a transport trailer back in our off-roading days, we just tack welded a chunk of pipe to the top and put a valve stem fitting on. Then just put the 12v compressor on it for a second. No labour required, but the bag can tip over if you air it up too high also. Ours was about 3" lower the rear axle on a truck with 35's deflated, they come in all sizes and styles.Amazon.com: Goodyear 1R14-039 Airbag Airspring for Heavy ...
