I'm officially a father

It hasn't been widely known but my wife was pregnant and originally due on Halloween.After a late term ultrasound on tuesday afternoon,the OB GYN recommended a labor induction and it went on early this morning.

 

My wife gave birth to a little girl named Caitlin Elizabeth at 8:47 am CDT,weighing in at 5 lbs 8 ozs and she has been pronounced 100% healthy.

 

If I should happen to post anything that is more incoherrent than usually over the next few days,please cut me some slack because I've had about 2 hours of sleep in the past 40 hours so this is going to take a little time to recover from.

Was she close enough to term to allow you to keep her the first night. Here anyone born premature (more than a week) has to spend at least one night in the NICU.

 

BTW, my wife is due in December.

....I've had about 2 hours of sleep in the past 40 hours so this is going to take a little time to recover from....

First one? Congrats!!! Beware, tho, little girls have a way of stealing your heart. I have one of each (my boy will be three on monday, the girl is 4 1/2) and they are the most infuriating, frustating, time-consuming little people on the planet. God, I do luv'em.

BTW, "take a little time to recover" is a understatement of colossal magnitude. I know I still haven't recovered and don't think I ever will.

Yep,they let her stay with the wife as long as she wanted her in the room.I know Sheila sent her back for a little bit last night because she was definitely exhausted but she has been with the baby for the most part.

 

This is the first one and possibly the only one.The wife has always wanted 2,me wanting one but we'll see how this goes.
