Hello,

I hope you got the trailer camera working right.   Can you tell me where you found one?   I have tried to find them online and also went to several dealers with no luck.

Any information is appreicated

I ordered mine March 1st and it has been back ordered ever since.  I got an email a few days ago and they are now saying June 25 but every month they push it out another month.  There is someone here that posted that his has been on backorder since January.

I tried it using rear view only, still froze intermittently and then went blank. I then unplugged it and plugged it into the inside trailer port and it did the same thing. Here’s the kicker, it seems to freeze up more when moving and it’s trying to show the video. Your dealer may be on to something about the processors. Maybe they can’t handle the active video, but still or slow, they do okay sometimes ?

Hi Shotgun

Have you made any progress on your camera dysfunction?  I got tired of the radio silence from both GM and from my service center, so I filled out the customer satisfaction survey (with all honesty) and called GM asking for an update.  Within 24 hours, GM had me bring my truck (with the trailer this time!) to the dealer.  Their initial diagnosis is that something is bad in the camera cable (or the connecter on the cable), and that there is nothing wrong with my truck itself.  They are expecting to get in a camera of their own early this week, so they can confirm/refute their findings.  The fact that my camera ALWAYS works when plugged into the "inside trailer view" plug on the back of my truck leads me to believe that the problem is elsewhere.  At least they're continuing to work to find my problem.

They updated the camera system and changed some settings on it last week. I'll find out if it helped the next time I hook up to the camper. I don't believe they have a camera of their own yet, either. Funny thing is, mine always works well when initially hooked up. Then, after a while, it starts freezing up. One of those electronic "bugs" that has to be figured out.

That's the same observation I have with mine...and the dealer replicated the problem.  They are claiming that faulty cable loses connection after it bounces around while driving.  Let's see where this goes...

Do you know what settings they updated?

I do not. I doubt its a cable issue with multiple people having similar issues. I've wiggle the cables on both ends and end to end (when I could) and it never once even had a blip. Only when there's a lot going on does it freeze up. Mine was doing it on the rear camera port and the interior camera port.

The updates and settings changed didn’t help my situation. Once I started going, the picture froze again. Then worked, froze, rinse, repeat. I’ll let them know next time I talk to them.

When the unit is powered down, then back on, it works again for a bit. Thinking more an electronic/processor type issue rather than defective cable. I hope they (GM) can help isolate and remedy the bugs in this system. Otherwise, the Furrion wireless setup is an option, if I even bother.

According to my service department, here is the code my camera threw last time.

This means nothing to me.  However, they ordered a camera of their own to diagnose my issues.  The camera finally came in, but I needed my truck back for a long weekend camping trip.  I'll get it back to the service center this upcoming week and then we'll see what they say.

Hope they can figure something out. Mine is doing same regardless of port plugged into. The inside trailer cam port may work a few seconds more, but that's it. I wonder how well it's working for the 1500 owners of 2019/2020 trucks.

Well guys, Thank you for your comments. I do not feel alone no more. I ordered my truck january 6th. Got it from the dealer during the pandemic april 8. I did not take the model with the mirror cameras neither the front one. I have the one in the tale gate, and the one on the roof so I can keep an eye on the pin while hooking the rigg. I ordered the camera for the back of my fifth wheel at the same time and it was on the original contract with the dealer. It was back order from the supplier. This whole system from what I understand comes from a european company: Valeo. :

They are the ones who ingeneered the whole camera system (view from top, view throught the trailer and so on). I tried 3 times to make it work and it does not. It looks to me like if the truck does not recognize the camera at all. I even tried to plug it in the inside camera socket. Then I got a black screen once. That was my best result.

I opened the fuse box in the engine compartment. The fuse no 37 is "euro trlr conn 20amp" I thought that I had just find the problem, there was no fuse in the whole! I put a 20amp fuse in it and I discovered that there was no connection underneath the plastic. Then, the fuse is useless...

I have an appointment tomorrow at the dealer service. I realy doubt that they will be helpfull... I do not count too much on being able to create a "ghost trailer effect" with my fifth wheel but I would realy like to be able to see behind the trailer when I tow on the road.

Did you plug the camera in with your seven way attached?  The camera will not work without recognizing a trailer is attached.

As mentioned before, I would not recommend a "hot" plug in of camera meaning plugging it in when truck is running or still awake.  Wait for the truck to go asleep first before plugging in.

If you are still having issues with black screens, I would suspect a bad camera.

Thank you for the tip!

This morning, I was with the mechanic in my dealer`s garage. The camera reacted exactly the same as it did the first time I plugged it. It worked the first time for a few seconds. The technician used a tool to fake a trailler plugged in the 7 pin socket. When the technician tried to show me which setting he tried to check to insure the camera was connected, blackout. We tried everything afterward to make it work again. Nothing could make it happen. He plugged the OBD2 tool to retreive all trouble codes that could have been stored sisce I got the truck. There was as of today 3700km on the odometer of my truck and only one single trouble code appeared on his computer: U0184 – Data bus: radio – no communication. Fake trailer was plugged, camera plugged. We tried several times to reset the whole thing: unplug both camera and trailer, turn everything off, let it die completely until the OnStar green light was shut off. Nothing could make it.

I left the garage after he told me that he was ask GM-technical support help.

I am presently waiting. The work order is still opened. Logicaly, I am not a specialist, but I would suspect either a hardware (intermitent) problem with the camera or a software problem in the Radio/Screen/Camera control system.

I have similar issues.  The rear trailer camera usually works at first... for about 10 minutes, then it freezes (becoming a picture), then it goes black.  The really frustrating issue is the view is black when I get to my destination and need to see behind the trailer for backing.  It comes back on if the truck is turned off, but it's inconvenient to do this at the destination.

As far as the transparent trailer view it hasn't worked since the first trip.  This isn't a big deal because the camera has such a wide angle view I can't see much behind the trailer unless it's very close to the bumper.  My travel trailer is 35 feet from bumper to hitch.  I was disappointed to find out you can't enter more than 32 feet.  When it worked, the view was slightly distorted.  Now the progress bar doesn't even start, let alone progress.

    • Are you playing Slide Down endlessly but your score is still low? Are you constantly crashing into obstacles as the game speed increases? Don't worry, this article will share 5 invaluable tips to help you master the race and impress your friends. Golden Rules 1. Look one step further. The mistake of 90% of new players is only staring at their character. The secret of experts is to look towards the top of the screen (where the slide is about to appear). This gives your brain an extra 0.5 - 1 second to process the situation and determine the direction of movement before the obstacle approaches. 2. Use gentle movements; don't swipe too hard. Slide Down is very sensitive. Moving your finger too forcefully or with excessive amplitude will cause your character to be thrown off course or crash into a wall. Practise moving your finger with small, decisive, and precise movements. 3. Don't be greedy for gold in dangerous locations. Gold coins are tempting for buying skins, but life is more important. If you see a gold coin right on the edge of a cliff or next to a spike trap, ignore it. Our goal is a High Score, and your score only increases if you survive. 4. Make the most of Power-ups. During the slide, you'll encounter items like Magnets (attract gold) or Shields (temporary invincibility). Never miss them! Especially the Shield, it's your "get out of jail free card" to help you get through those deadly fast sections. 5. Stay calm when speed peaks. When your score exceeds 500 or 1000, the game speed will be very fast. At this point, don't try to think logically; let your natural reflexes work. Take deep breaths and don't panic. Apply these 5 tips to your next game, and your leaderboard will surely improve dramatically. Good luck climbing the Slide Down leaderboard!
    • If you use compressed air regularly, one problem you cannot ignore is moisture. Water in the air line can cause rust, unstable air pressure, poor tool performance, and even damage to sensitive equipment. That is why I highly recommend using a desiccant air dryer. A desiccant air dryer is designed to remove moisture from compressed air by using drying materials such as activated alumina or molecular sieve. Compared with basic water separators, it can achieve much lower dew points, making it especially useful for applications that require dry and stable air. For workshops, painting systems, pneumatic tools, CNC machines, laser cutting equipment, and industrial production lines, a desiccant air dryer can make a big difference. It helps protect equipment, improve air quality, reduce maintenance costs, and extend the service life of the whole compressed air system. Another advantage is reliability. Many desiccant air dryers are built for continuous operation and can maintain stable drying performance even in demanding environments. For users who care about long-term efficiency and equipment protection, this is a smart investment. When choosing a desiccant air dryer, I suggest paying attention to air flow capacity, working pressure, dew point performance, regeneration method, and maintenance requirements. A good model should match your compressor system and actual air consumption. Overall, if moisture is causing problems in your compressed air system, a desiccant air dryer is definitely worth considering. It is practical, efficient, and highly useful for anyone who needs clean, dry, and reliable compressed air.
