6 Speed vs 8 Speed Reliability

Are the 6 spds issues based on factory tuning that’s designed for primarily fuel efficiency?  My 18 6spd had some clunks early on but has cleared up. I honestly just don’t like how it shifts. It always seems to be in too high a gear but what do I know. That can be cured with a tune eventually correct?

A lot of the transmission quirks I saw were mostly cured after I disabled V4.

I had no quirks with v4. Justin from blackbear said some are quirky some aren’t. Luck of the draw from the factory

That may be so. My 2014 I had to 110k had V4 the whole way. The transmission did weird things from time to time, but very rare. I loved it aside from the AC constantly breaking.

In my 2017, AC issues are gone, and I stuck a Range V8 in the OBD. Drives like a dream.
