Gas station selling 93 but not 93

I grew up in Jersey. Left in 78. We always could pump our own gas if we wanted. Last time I was there 2002 you still could. I’m amazed that in our town there isn’t at least one gas station where you could get your gas pumped for you. Seems there’d be enough people that hate pumping gas enough to warrant a full service station.

That 104 octane booster isnt worth the bottle its poured into, much less it wont do crap for raising octane. It raises it maybe 1 point and it isnt a point you think. it will take 87.0 octane fuel to 87.1 octane, it doesnt raise it to 88 octane. If you have access to E85 it would be better to add 4 gallons of E85 to the tank until you can get 93 back into it again. The ECM can handle the E85 at 15% ratio with zero issues other than a loss in fuel mileage.

Find out who the state over-sight is for the gas station, they will and can go out and test the fuel on site and tell you if the fuel is good. You just need to file a complaint with them.

Really? I can just put a little e85 in a vehicle with no flex fuel sensor?

Yep, the OEM tune is already setup for E10 in the tune. Manufactures changed that several years ago when 87/E10 became popular due to price. The A/F ration was changed to correct for it.

I run E15 in our 16 SQ5 all the time in the summer months. Boost + only having 91 octane doesnt work well when its hot outside, the E15 helps keep the detonation under control better.

My mileage goes up when alcohol is between 15-20% compared with regular 93 pump gas.
