New rotor stuck 01 silverado

Recently purchased the duralast gt rotors for my 01 Silverado. Went to put the first rotor on and it wouldn’t go on.I used the lug nuts to apply pressure to the rotor to make it go on and now my rotor won’t spin. What have I done? What should I do next.

If you had to force the brake rotor on to the hub, then you either got the wrong rotors or the machine work on the rotors is very bad.

 

Brake rotors should plop on without an issue at all. They should be totally free to come on and off the bearing/hub.

That’s what I figured. But I hoped that once I got the rotor on it be ok. I created another couple issues in doing so. Now I need to get the rotor back off. My parking break worked great before so i don’t believe that’s the issue. Must just be the rotor.

If it's the rear, you can try using the parking brake adjustments to make the shoes come in. Not sure if that is the issue you are having because if the park brake shoes are out to far the rotor will not go on.

If you are talking about the rear rotors, and they are a disc brake/drum parking brake setup (my '04 sierra is like this), then you may have damaged the drum brake shoes by forcing the drum/rotor onto them sideways.  You couple probably work the star adjuster wheel for the parking brakes to release them a bit from the drum/rotor, but expect to have to install new shoes.

Rotor is off only apart damage is the little screw that holds the retainer clip popped off slightly stripped. Gonna go find a bigger screw to replace. Does that retainer clip have to be there?

I damaged a parking brake clip trying to replace the rear caliber because I was a dummy and left the parking brake engaged.

 

I got it off but obliterated the metal clip.  The other side I released the brake and voila easy peasy

Does that clip need to be on? I think I stripped the screw and the screw hole.

Are you talking about #3? If so, yes, it serves a purpose

I bought a bag from NAPA that was titled parking brake repair kit or something and it had all the pieces I needed to fix what I broke

I got lucky and fix everything. I think I have some air left in the system. Will rebleed sometime soon. Thank you everyone.
