What type of Michelin did you have? unless they are a sport tire, all of the Michelins (Defenders and LTX), i have had were way better in the rain/snow then the Duratracs.

AT2s were about the same in the snow as the Duratracs.

Michelin Defenders and AT2’s suck in the snow, I know this from personal experience.

For an everyday tire, Defenders are pretty good even for snow time to time, AT2s are OK. I stopped running AT2s because its harder to find and Defenders are cheaper and better for my needs. I am not usually in snow.

But you are right, Goodyear sucks. I will never buy or promote those tires.

The defenders are excellent for everyday drivers, especially for towing except in snow. The AT2’s are retarded tires, kinda worthless... lol.

Can you clarify about the AT2s?

I have Duratracs at 36,000 miles. They’ve become very loud and slippery in the wet. Looking at the Michelin AT2s and interested in your experience.

Not worth the money, they’re ok in the sand, not at all any better than the Defenders in light mud, had them on my DMax, wasn’t at all impressed. I’d go for the KO2’s or Coopers

Nittos Ridge Grapplers when new, look at the siping in the lugs

At only 16k miles, the siping started to disappear causing me to slide a lot

KO2’s have siping that runs straight through the lugs

Is this a change for the KO2s or have they always had deep siping like that?

I had a set of KO2s before the current duratracs and just like the duratracs they hit ~25k miles and got very slippery in the wet. I had to replace the KO2s at 30k miles as they felt unsafe in wet. Now I’m in the same situation with the duratracs at 36k miles. Still have plenty of tread but they are very slippery in the wet.

The KO’s and KO2’s have always had the same but there’s more to it than just siping, imho, tire chemicals compound has a lot to do with it. Ever notice a new tire not gripping well? Nope, they’ve got a layer of performance enhanced compounds until you hit approximately 20k miles in them. The Nitto Ridge Grapplers were great in the beginning, they sucked at 16k miles. Im going to be adding weight to my rear if and “when” these new KO2’s start to slip, never had issues before but it’s what I’m going to do if and when it happens and see if that helps any.

Right now, I’m digging the Cooper AT3’s XLT, excellent reviews, lighter and taller tire from the KO2’s.

Absolutely spot on. That’s been my experience. Great traction until ~20k, then wet traction goes to hell.

Thanks 1st time I’ve seen those rims. I had 18” Duratracs on my 2017 and got 60,000 out of them. I’ve had the A/T 2 Michelin and I found them to have a lot less traction in the mud both seemed slippery on wet roads after 30,000 the new auto setting on the 4wd will come in handy

Yes that’s the same rims and tires I had on my 2017 Denali. Just got the 2020 AT 4  with the 20” and ridge runners. I don’t know why they can’t be ordered with the Duratracs. The 1500s can be ordered with Duratracs.

The tires that come on the trucks may have the name brand and model of a store tire but they’re not alike, very different performance and durability. I’ve never kept oem tires on any of my new vehicles cause they’re garbage, many better tires out there and if you’re on a budget, Wildpeak AT3’s have good reviews

Same here. I always replace them.
