2014 Silverado Randomly Dying

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3L v8.  Overall it has been a great truck.  However, recently I have been running into several issues with it.  It all started out with my truck getting a code saying that battery power is low turn on truck, when sitting in it, key in ignition, but not fully on.  Then the power steering would start to lock up when I would switch from drive to reverse backing into a parking space, no issue once the truck started moving.  Now, this is where the issues are getting more serious.  While I am driving I will get Stablilitrak, parking assist turned off notifications when driving, and then recently, the truck will just lose power while driving or slowing down turning.  I will lose steering it will lock up, truck will die and display information will just turn off with the check engine light coming on.  Upon turning off the vehicle, the truck will start back up just fine and drive like normal til it happens again.  I am not sure where to really start at looking into this problem.

Check your battery connections and ground connections.  IIRC, there was a TSB about an issue with one of the ground connections somewhere in the dash.

Time for a new battery if your still on the original. Also check and probably time to clean and retighten your grounds as Sonerick said.

I am having the same issue with my 2014 Silverado. But I don’t have any codes and check engine does not come on. It has happened a few times sporadically . Dealer wants to charge $160 to do diagnostic test but said if no code comes up they wouldn’t be able to fix it. Have you had a diagnostic test done and if so what code did it have. Had connections checked for battery and replaced battery.

Ahh its like i wrote this post, identical everything. Here is what fixed my issues:

 

Its your ground cable going from the battery to the chassis. 

This is a $280+ fix i heard but i fixed mine for about $15 myself.

Go to parts store and get a 5ft long battery cable with the crimped ends. One end goes to the battery negative and other end runs along the firewall to the ground bolt thats to the left of the brake booster.

This basically adds a second ground cable, fixed all my issues. My battery was a year old but if yours is 3+ years old also get a new one.

 

Do this quickly before something bad happens. Mine shut off on the highway going 60+ with my 2yr old in the truck and i had to move to the right all the way from the left lane during rush hour traffic with no power, not fun!
