Open hood warning

Has anyone experienced the open hood warning and theft attempt warning?

 

My 2019 Z71 LTZ just started yesterday with open hood and theft attempt warning with the horn alarm blaring while I was staring right at it. It also gives me an open hood warning while I’m driving. I can’t use factory installed remote start. I really regret trading in my 2016 for this one, way to much electronics control this truck along with the POS auto stop. Anyway I’m done ranting.

Hood open switch isn't something new....

Part of the hood latch.  New hood latch will fix your issue.  We do them quite a bit.

The 2019 isn't much more "electronic" than your 2016 was.  Just upgrades.  You can also disable the auto start/stop with a variety of methods involving programming OR a custom jumper harness for the switch.

I had this issue where , opening driver side window, shifting transmision from park would activate the hood warning.  AUTO START was acting intermittent where the alarm would go off when i pressed lock on remote or, in an other intance,  it would start the engine but engine would run for 10 seconds only.  The issue was a ground strap cable from motor head on the left side (rear) to the firewall.  it was corroded/rusted and was shorting out hot.  There is a bulletin on this from GM.

What kind of truck do you have? Not a 2015 Sierra Kodiak like in your profile?

Yes, exactly.  2015 sierra with kodiak package

Check your ground strap on the firewall. Had to bolt mine back on because factory bolt was broke off..

Problem fixed.

Have you considered using a POS system for this? If yes, could you recommend any particular POS system? Your suggestion might be helpful for others facing a similar situation.
