Floor mat causes bizarre car wash accident

This happened just a few towns away from me. I think that your floor mat would have to be pretty far out of place to allow this to happen. The truck doesn't even look all that damaged compared to the car.

I'm more concerned as to why the driver was adjusting the mat in gear?  Or maybe the anchors weren't snapped on and the mat got caught?  You can see they got on the brake hard but then let off it really quick too.  A toss in to neutral would have prevented what happened.

Sounds like he's looking for a way out of the blame. I'm sure the folks in the red car will be looking to sue.
