Infotainment/Intellilink down, Bad HMI? dealer replace?

Long time lurker, first time posting.

On Sunday, I started my truck and to my surprise, the “infotainment‘ screen was blank.  A few minutes later the screen appeared to be in a software loading screen.  Almost as if it was in the middle of a failed update.   Pulled the fuse...  nothing.   Called Onstar for a vehicle reset... nothing.  Pulled the negative on the battery and let it sit overnight... nothing.  Reinsterted the HMI plug behind the glovebox... nothing.  Just stuck on a loading screen.   Took it to the dealer today and was told that the HMI module needed to be replaced at a cost of $1300!!  Needless to say, i have no other option than to pay out of pocket to have it replaced as its out of warranty with 90K miles.

I’ve read several posts on this forum about others failing too.  Anyone have any other suggestions, or do I just bite the bullet and have it replaced.

Buy a new HMI module yourself somewhere else, install it yourself and then have the dealer flash the newest firmware for the HMI module into the vehicle for you. That is nothing but highway robbery that your dealer is charging. It is like 2hrs of work to replace the HMI module and flash it.

Or do as said and contact the forum vendor, they can send out a new module with some other options turned on if you so choose to do so, it will cost you but the updates are nice over what the OE HMI module does.
