Being a child of the 50's I always favor chrome.  I was thinking of chrome for my red Silverado, but was quickly shot down by "She who must be obeyed", aso known as "The Voice of Reason".  She "suggested" that black would be the better choice.  I think the chrome might stand out more with that color blue.  Either way you can't go wrong.

When it comes to the tailgate letters, black all the way, no matter the color of truck. I even put the matte black letters on my black truck. People give me crap about it but I like it. I love chrome, not anti-chrome at all, but I feel it would be just a little too much for the tailgate.

abs here also, much easier to apply than the vinyl and yes I think that black looks the best on all colors, I've also got the black oem Silverado and lt emblems, just haven't got them on yet

Therein lies the answer.  Its your truck and should do whatever pleases you don't worry about what others say or think.  Just like Ricky sang in "Garden Party".

I went OEM and got the Chevrolet 'blacked out' emblem kit, including the 'CHEVROLET' lettering in the tailgate.

I was surprised to find it is actually a hard emblem, not just a vinyl sticker, super high quality.

I went with the GM letters in silver. I'd like to replace most of my chrome with this silver.

like the insert guys. my truck is black, so I like the all black look. even the one decal i added to the rear window is black so that it's just barely noticeable. i'm glad they left it as is, or i think you'd see more "how do I remove the color" threads then you would, adding color.
