Lane Departure Warning seat not actuating

Recommended Posts

I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado and have taken it to dealer for recall concerning front camera and brake concern. I have had it back three times to get issues addressed along with the recall. Since taking vehicle in for first recall notice I have noticed that my LDW seat actuator not working. Has anyone else had this happen after taking vehicle in for recall and if it was repaired do you know what had to be done? The Lane Keep Assist is functioning but the LDW is not activating seat function.

Has your Lane Departure Warning/Lane Keep Assist icon on the dash ever "flashed?"  If not you would not be hearing the audible alert or the vibrating seat function.

There has been much discussion about this and it is relatively difficult to get the lane departure warning to alert due to a variety of factors.  Simply having the system steer you back over will NOT trigger the lane departure warning.

Hi, Yes, I have headup display and the LKA does turn from green to orange when nearing lane edge and I also can feel the resistant with the steering wheel attempting to guide me back into my lane but when I purposely force my vehicle to pass out of my lane to force the LDW and vibrate my seat to work it is not functioning. It did work pretty well before the recalls but not actuating now. I have gone into settings to make sure it is setup and it is so I am at a loss as to why it won't activate after getting the recall done? I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this condition. And thank you for your reply.

With my 2019 model Yukon as well as two consecutive 2020 GMC Terrains I have only been able to reproduce a lane departure alert ONCE.

I believe your system is operating as it is intended, at least in my experiences with these three vehicles that have lane keep assist (lane departure warning is packaged together with lane keep assist.)

I only have a little over 600 miles on this 19 but I have noticed the same thing as the OP that the seat vibrate does not go off for the lane departure warning. It did vibrate the seat on both my 17 and 18 that had the driver alert system. I just assumed that it was turned off in the options menu, I will have to check on that tomorrow. Can some others that have the driver alert system comment on the 19 and up systems if they get a seat vibration when the lane assist feature engages?

Lane keep assist is not the lane departure alert.

If you lane departure icon is not *flashing* then you will not receive the seat vibration or audible alert.  It does not trigger the lane departure alert when your steering is correcting.

I have to abruptly go across the lines right or left before the seat will vibrate, If you jus steer it over the lines it will not go off....

That is less sensitive than the 18 and back systems then. If you drifted outside your lane to a certain degree it would vibrate the seat on the side that you were drifting out of lane on and of course it would be trying to nudge the steering wheel. . I guess i have not drifted quickly enough yet to get the seat to vibrate LOL

I'm not sure what it takes.  If you take your hands off the wheel for awhile it gives you the take steering warning.  I can basically get it to alert me to take steering very easily.  On the other hand through hours of testing I have only gotten one lane departure warning.

My wife's 2015 and 2020 Nissan Rogues do not have lane keep assist but do have lane departure warning.  It's very annoying so we turned it off, every time you touch a lane marker without signaling it would be beeping.  Perhaps that's why this GM system was redesigned.  I'm OK with it as it is!  And like I said it is normal as tested with two different brand new 2020 GMC Terrains and a 2020 Buick Encore too, all with lane keep assist and lane departure warning.  All 3 of the 2020 models behaved very similar to my 2019 Yukon.

Appreciate the update. Now my challenge is to get it to vibrate the seat just to make sure that it actually works DO NOT BE DRIVING UP TOO CLOSELY BESIDE ME Hahaha  Just kidding I will make sure no one is around when I do the wild maneuver.

Hello to all that have responded to my concern. I was wondering if there may be a service bulletin that may address the issue? It is a nice option but I can live without it continually vibrating on the right and left side of the seat , I have driven a many year and it wasn't necessary but it was an option that for some reason is not function as before recall procedure done. Wow I never knew the was a return hands to steering warning! gotta try that one on a lonely stretch  of road.  ?

The "take steering" warning will give you two quick dings at first, but then if you don't touch the steering wheel, it will start chiming continually.

Does it allow you to drive with your knee/upper leg for a few with out dinging at you? Thanks for the time of a reply.
