climate control

Good morning. My vehicle is a 2011 GMC Sierra WT. When my truck is cold, all of the climate controls work as they should..IE.. heat/A/C engage, all of the positions vents, floor, defroster work as they should, HOWEVER when the truck warms up the temp control stops working, and the positions no longer work.

I'm stumped, I really don't want to throw parts at this thing, but, I'm ASSUMING that the control (with the buttons etc..) is bad.. Correct assumption??

The fan works, the A/C works. It's become intermittent, I noticed today while driving everything worked, I could cycle between floor, defroster, vents etc...and the heat would work as well as the A/c... Just like normal. Then it just stopped having all of the functions and went back to blowing through the vents, but, no heat..

Anyone have any ideas.. This morning everything worked fine, until the truck got to full operating temp, then, vent doors would not change position, A/C comp would still kick on, fans work, no heat. As an after thought, about two weeks ago, while sitting in traffic, the truck got up to about 240, I switched over the heater to blow the hot air out, dropped the temp, but that is the only  "overheating" I've experienced

Head unit? as in the controller, the part that is in the dash? Will that have to be programmed once i install it?? Or is it a plug and play?
