This is a 2500HD forum. Why are we talking about 1500's with electric steering which is not available on the HD's?

It is standard on the Chevy HD High Country, and GMC HD AT4 and Denali.

HD's have what is called Digital Steering Assistant' on the higher trims.

It is NOT the same as the electric steering on the 1500's --- but there are two steering systems on the HD's....

All 2020 Silverado and Sierra 2500HD's have conventional, recirculating ball steering with power assist.  Power assist comes from a hydraulic, power steering pump driven by a belt on the front of the engine. Higher end models have digital assist that boosts pump pressure when signaled by a control module.  Thus, steering is easier when turning a low speeds or when heavily loaded and extra boost makes steering easier for the driver.  It is not electric steering.  1500's use rack and pinion steering and they have an electric motor that provides power assist.  There is no hydraulic pump or drive belt in the front of the engine to power the pump - it's a pure electric system.

Cool. I didn't realize the 1500s were different.

See there was a good reason for the post.
