Underhood light Mod

Hey there!

I picked up these "Partsam Pod LED Rock Lights” from Amazon- 4 qty for  $23.  They seem really well made for the price- all metal body, sealed circuit board, 100% waterproof.

I used 2 of them for footwell lights, and then I installed one as an underhood light.  I tested it before the install and it's plenty bright!  I'll post some pics tonight...

The pod is mounted to the underhood sound pad only, I used some fender washers under the nuts to keep it from pulling through.  I also installed 2 more xmas tree fasteners just to keep the material secure  (it was fine before that, but I wanted to make sure it'd be good in the long run.

I picked up power in the driver's side underhood fusebox  and mounted a switch on the firewall.  I circled the power, fuse and switch.  I also made a small plate to hide the switch wires.

It's a cheap, easy , fun little project that will really come in handy ...

I have the same idea except I will be using a Mercury switch to activate when hood is up

I thought about that too- but I was bored...there was this toggle switch...lol.

I can’t wait to post night pics- it’s really well lit!

Like mkeddie said I have an old school underhood light that I just screwed into the bottom of the hood. I had a LED bulb in there but the heat from the engine was melting the solder and it failed so I just put a halogen bulb in there.

You could always put a tilt switch under the hood so that when you open the hood the light comes on automatically and use the momentary switch as a bypass so you can flip that and turn off the power if you don't want them on.

Either way that is one clean and sharp install you did.?
