Borla or Corsa

I just put the s type on my 19, loud at cold start but it calms down. Its louder but not bad. I really like the tone. I was afraid the touring would be too quiet and they dont make the atak for the 5.3.

I have the s-type on my 6.2. It’s crazy loud on cold startup. My neighbor has complained!  Nice burble once it warms up and it’s loud driving. No drone at all. It turns heads on the road. I’m glad I didn’t get the Atak.  Here is startup and idle

I had Corsa on my last 2 Sierra's, both 5.3. On the first one, a 2004, it was awesome. On the 2nd one, a 2012, I was disappointed on how quiet it was, not much more than stock. I contacted Corsa and was informed they had changed muffler designs due to AFM.

For my 5.3 AT4 I opted for the Borla S-type. I was concerned it would be subdued as well but the ATAK is not listed for the 5.3. I did not need to fret. The S-type is perfect. Cold start is pretty loud, but it settles to a nice rumble. Driving around it sounds fantastic, not too quiet, not too loud. The more throttle, the louder the growl.

Thanks for the help guys. Ordered an ATAK today, we’ll see what it sounds like before long!

I have heard them both and considered getting the ATAK. Before ordering it I decided to have the muffler deleted and it sounds better than both. Majority of folks end up complaining that the Borla etc doesn’t have enough sound when warmed up. Muffler delete is a touch noisy on cold start for 30 seconds or so but can’t be beat. No drone noticeable inside. I have had several Sierra/Silverado owners trying to catch up to me just to ask what exhaust is on the truck.

I believe the pipe where the muffler was is 3” section that sleeved over the 2 3/4 or 5/8 pipe. Afterwards is all the factory dual exhaust setup that comes on the X31 truck. It sounds perfect, tons of compliments.

Awesome, you got and video or audio? I bet with the factory resonators it does sound good.

Nothing there! I want to hear it. Any difference in power or fuel economy? What about the flapper valves?

I had the ATAK on my 15 5.3. It was sick. I also did JBA shortys and air raid intake with the afe pro dry S filter and air box mod, tuned it and dynod factory specs at the tires. Should’ve dynod before to see what the actual gain was. It turned heads for sure. noticeable cabin noise. Might go with the S type this time around, but who doesn’t love that sound? I think side exits are better if you’re towing(you don’t get the noise bouncing off the trailer).

If you’re worried about not enough sound, go ATAK. If you’re worried about cabin noise and pissy neighbors, go S type.
